Re: Climate Change
There is no debate. The right wants people to believe there is a debate. The rest of the world has settled this. We know that if a volcano throws up a certain amount of gas into the atmosphere it can increase the temperature of the earth. That has happened in the past and we've measured it. However,...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
Well... thank God he's a weather man and not a marriage counselor (and, from a 'raging liberal,' he's the best weather man in town). Back to the development. I'm starting to think this current proposal, as is, isn't good enough. I've been fine with all of these 20-30 story developments. They're nice...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
not to mention that the trend, across the country, has been for people to stay at home and watch NFL games. They are suited for viewing on your own TV in your own living room. College football is different... especially in smaller towns where it's the only thing happening on a Saturday. You can easi...

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
What if, rather than in Downtown East, the new stadium foundations were being poured in Arden Hills right now? The Ryan deal - conceived by Rybak - which leveraged the stadium ramp and the Strib land, wouldn’t have happened. Wells Fargo would likely be closing a deal on the sprawling suburban campu...

Re: Mall of America - Bloomington
phase 2 will double the size of the mall. This will be phase 1c... not phase 2. It looks small in comparison... but that's just because the mall is so huge. This is a big project.

Re: Mall of America - Bloomington
I've had questions about Phase II myself and am very confused about what it means and what the scope is. Is it just this expansion that will be completed in 2015? Does it also include the supposed MEGA-expansion across Lindau Ln.....the supposed additional 4M SF -- essentially doubling the size of ...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
I don't remember Target Field being sold to us a catalyst for development. I remember them specifically saying "this isn't an economic impact issue." I remember target field being sold to us as a "quality of life" issue. MSP needed an outdoor stadium (now that TF is build I think...

WCCO has some more renderings. http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/photo-galleries/2014/03/18/moa-expansion-renderings/ (click the arrows to see them all... or click view thumbnails) I was having a hard time understanding the scope of this project until I saw these latest pictures. It didn't help that I h...

Very rough Google Earth model for this project: https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=udd74ee12-5138-489d-af72-76ee90a1af01 https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-diU8tKUAeJU/UyQ2G68-1SI/AAAAAAAAAr8/KpLZ5hFnFHM/s800/ryan-magellan%2520stadium%2520tower.jpg I don't think we've heard any height nu...

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
I believe the initial proposal, for total floors, way back when, was 17 (or 18 depending on where you start counting... 5 floors of residential units, fronting the buildings, fit into the first 4 floors of the towers) and 276 feet. The final numbers are what avian posted. If you you start counting f...

Re: The Eclipse
Eclipse looks sharp, simple, and refined.
301 washington looks jumbled and has no point to make. It reminds me of a teenage girl (or boy... I'm not one to make judgments) caking on makeup and thinking it makes them prettier.
I'd pick Eclipse any day.

Re: The Eclipse
I think it's a pretty good model to give an idea of the massing, and pretty bad for what it will actually look like (because I don't think we can know for sure from the few renders we've been given). Also I'm pretty amused by that bus shelter sinking into the parking lot. It's an exact model to giv...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
yes... I was tired and snakry. That image is an initial rendering. It gives a good idea of how the stadium will fit into the area. However it is not complete. There will be a residential building on the opposite end of the park. The residential units on the 'non-park' side of the WF towers will be b...

no, you've been imagining that building all along.Isn't there supposed to be an apartment building fronting 5th Ave where the pond is in that drawing?

speaking of terrorist attacks and stadiums/ballparks... ...I feel that some are getting caught up on an imagined detail. For example, the renderings, we were shown of target field, had no barrier between the plaza and seating. It appeared you could walk right up to where people were sitting without ...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
Lackluster proposals both of them. Same old, same old in the city of 10,000 overpriced apartments and interstate hotel chains. It's not so much the developers, but the city that needs to facilitate a better response for a more ambitious project for this ramp. It's hard to figure out, but I think so...
