Might be an obvious question, but does the full weekend closure have to do with the amount of time it takes to repair the tracks? Could the repairs be done quicker if there were more manpower?

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'
Could someone post a link to the latest images of the project? This project is going through so many iterations, that it’s hard to keep track of which are the latest.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Thanks for the info! It seems like we have this problem after every winter. Are there any innovations being made to prevent these types of cracks from occurring in the tracks? I saw that they were working on the University skyway the other day when I was there. Asking the above question, about the r...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Not Southwest light rail related, but I wasn’t sure where to put it. What kind of trackwork are they doing downtown this weekend? Didn’t they do a whole bunch of work on the tracks downtown last year?

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
The point I’m getting at is that these conversations and plans need to be starting now. Before light rail is even built. These things need to be in place when it opens. Obviously you wouldn’t start the shuttle services until the rail is open, but you need to start figuring out how they will be funde...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
MNdible, I very much agree with you. I think self driving shuttle buses will definitely be able to fill that gap, I just wish they would be a reality sooner. That would be perfect. What is the plan for opening day? We know that getting these types of services implemented take time, is someone workin...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
I think ridesharing services can help fill this void, but they will not completely solve it. There will be people who will not be able to afford Uber and lyft. The problem with shuttles is that people will not want to stand outside for 20 minutes in the winter waiting for shuttle. Trains are expecte...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
So I feel like no one is asking this question, if they are, it doesn’t seem like there’s much of an answer. Southwest light rail is supposed to connect to many existing jobs. One area in particular is the golden triangle station. I know there are a lot of jobs in this area, but how exactly are peop...

Re: Lowa46 - 46th & Hiawatha Cub Foods Mixed Use
That makes sense. Totally radical proposal, don’t even know if it’s possible, but could they wrap the restaurant in apartments? That would mean there would be no natural light going into the restaurant, but at least you would have more than one use. Another thought, as a way of dealing with the lack...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
That’s awesome about the building being converted to affordable apartments. We can always use more of those. Unrelated question: what’s the latest on the property located just south of 10th St. and west of Hennepin Avenue? I thought they were going to be putting in two hotels there. Haven’t heard an...

Re: Lowa46 - 46th & Hiawatha Cub Foods Mixed Use
I’m all for a restaurant, but why on earth couldn’t you at least put some apartments above it. Being so close to the A-line and 46 street station, I’m not too thrilled about the idea of a single use building.

Re: 2800 Wayzata Blvd. (Former Northwestern Bell offices)
That’s not bad. Definitely could be better.
It all depends on how they make the pedestrian realm. They need to make it easy to get from the building to the bus stop. They will also need to add a Bench and shelter. About how long would it take someone to get from here to downtown?

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'
To me, I wouldn’t consider a hotel to be retail or active use. It’s hard to explain why not. I would definitely consider the Hotel restaurant to be retail/active use. Will the restaurant have an opening onto the street, or will you have to go through the hotel to get to it? Sent from my iPhone using...
