I figure the MLS sees this…
In the Vikings’ favor:
1) stadium is paid-for
2) stadium works well for MLS’ February, March and November games
3) stadium is adjacent to a park
4) stadium has the revenue potential of Seattle-like attendance
In Minnesota United’s favor:
1) stadium will have grass

Re: Farmers Market Soccer Stadium
now we have county/mcguire vs city/wilfs I wonder if the city, which wants the MLS to use the downtown east stadium (and the adjacent park) in which they’re heavily invested, is making their preference known to league officials. If so, how much would the city’s preference weigh in the league’s deci...

Re: Farmers Market Soccer Stadium
Good article. I’m not surprised that Seattle is considered the model situation. The MLS must be giddy about attendance at CenturyLink.

Re: Suburbs - General Topics
In your neighborhood, or your city? My neighborhood. Almost anywhere within a 2-mile radius. Yeah, there are busy roads further away around which pedestrians have to be more careful. But the vast majority of streets in the immediate area are safe for pedestrians despite the lack of sidewalks. I’m n...

Re: Suburbs - General Topics
it seems risky to make the safety of your walkers and bikers dependent on there never being new residents, or even visitors, who don't follow the unwritten rules I know it’s counterintuitive, but it’s not at all risky. On suburban side streets, cars are relatively rare. And drivers show more defere...

Re: Suburbs - General Topics
I wonder if drivers subconsciously speed up a bit on suburban streets where there are sidewalks - thinking that they’re unlikely to encounter a pedestrian in the street.

Re: Suburbs - General Topics
My suburban neighborhood (density = 1,537 per sq. mi.) has no sidewalks. Everyone walks and bikes in the middle of the street. It’s perfectly safe because drivers are well aware of this. Cars are infrequent, drivers go slower than the 25 mph limit, and we watch for pedestrians. If the city proposed ...

Bagley confirmed that the Vikings will be in on the pitch. A spokesman for McGuire declined comment when asked if he was also presenting.

Aaah! Thanks. That’s good to hear. Hopefully they don’t decide to terminate the LRT short of the Mitchell Station as some have suggested.

Re: Public Transit News and Happenings
It states the riders are coming from 28 NW cities. Is this due to the recent unreliable nature of NorthStar? According to the article "the route has been extremely popular since a new ramp was opened at the Parkway Station off I-94 and Maple Grove Pkwy." Apparently the popularity of this ...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
On the Chicago side, the stadium has a massive plaza and a huge glass wall which opens up to the outside. What can be more inviting than that? You're right. And this tends to be overlooked. If one starts at the intersection of Norm McGrew and 4th, and walks counterclockwise around the perimeter of ...

Re: Farmers Market Soccer Stadium
Exellent point. It might even be the case that their investment is contingent upon a Farmer’s Market location. If McGuire wants the team elsewhere, Pohlad and Taylor may just tell him he's on his own.
