Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments

Unfortunetly everybody's getting dragged through the mud here, so everything ends up out in the open. Especially if the key issue is what's economically viable, Has it been stated anywhere what Lander is offering Mike Crow? Because one of the claims I heard at the public hearing is that Lander is o...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments

I just read the latest status update from MRRDC thinking it was actually from the parody account MRRSVLD:SUV. Their ridiculousness has reached self-parody https://www.facebook.com/MplsRRDC?fref=nf It is completely ridiculous. However, in their ridiculousness I personally believe that they crossed t...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments

She's dangerous to our city. Definitely. If she is going to use her platform to get people all over the country to flood our CM's with emails on every demolition vote in our city, it will make it even more likely that any emails sent from actual Minneapolitans who support demolition would even get ...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments

Well, this is the first anyone's heard of it, so I'm not going to take her word at face value, that's for sure. They may be offering him a price on it as if it were a SFH, whereas he and the realtor have said they're selling it as a rooming house, because that's what it is. And if Lander wants to p...

ugh. these folks copy and paste, but don't live here to vote: https://www.facebook.com/nicolecurtisrehabaddict I love how Goodman tried to reference these emails at the end of the staff presentation as showing overwhelming support for preserving the property, and then Bender says that her office lo...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments

They didn't actually say anything. It was just the two Lisas that said anything. Actually, Andrew Johnson may have said something in support as well now that I think about it. Andrew Johnson talked about how for him it came down to historic preservation vs. historic renovation/replication. There is...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments

Appeal granted in support of demolition, 5-1 with Lisa Goodman the only Nay vote. Only need to round up 2 more votes out of the 7 remaining councilmembers and this is a done deal. Interesting that CMs Barb Johnson and Kevin Reich changed their votes from 2013 decision (which was unanimous against d...

Re: Precinct Caucuses

I live in 7-9, Marion's precinct. She did have a bunch of support. However, she only ended up with two of the three delegates. Mike Erlandson, former DFL party chair, managed to rally together an undecided sub-caucus, and got himself elected as a delegate. There were also Anne and Katie sub-caucuses...

Re: Hennepin County Commissioner - 3rd District

If you read the other candidates responses you'll see that they have also ruled out what was the proposal for the SLP freight reroute, although not as explicitly. Now that the freight reroute study has come out and there is another option on the table, the candidates opinions might change. Anne Mavi...

Re: Hennepin County Commissioner - 3rd District

Can you answer this: Which seats on the Hennepin board are up for re-election this year? It's seemingly impossible to find this information online. In 2012, following redistricting, some seats were up for 2-year terms because the boundaries shifted enough beyond some threshold and triggered an elec...

Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion

I'm not wholly convinced the Karen Boros article was entirely accurate. It's all here say. I'm sure if you ask other council members I'm sure you'll get a different answer on who decided and in what order.

Re: Hennepin County Commissioner - 3rd District

1) Anne Mavity 2) Ben Schweigert/Katie Hatt 3) Katie Hatt/Ben Schweigert Did I decide fairly early on? Yes. I decided that this race was important enough that I needed to get involved early on. Sitting on the sidelines because there were too many good candidates just didn't cut it for me. I began ex...

Re: Hennepin County Commissioner - 3rd District

Gail Dorfman is resigning to become the new Executive Director of St. Stephen's Human Services, effective March 3rd. This will trigger a special election within 56-77 days of the vacancy occurring. A primary election will be held 14 days before the special election unless no more than two candidates...

Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion

Barb officially announces she has votes to retain Presidency. She also says she is supporting Glidden for VP, Goodman will remain as chair of CD, Quincy will chair W&M/Budget, Reich will chair TPW. Interesting choice for W&M/Budget given that Quincy is currently Vice-Chair of CD. However, si...

Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion

If Barb ends up getting reelected as President, then I think Glidden NEEDS to be chair of Ways & Means/Budget. She'll be the only returning committee member to the council, and she's part of the "fiscally conservative" wing of the City Council. I don't think there is any other committe...

Re: Minneapolis City Planning Commission

I attended the last CPC meeting, which was the last of the year. It was the last meeting for Liz Wielenski, who was the Park Board appointee. She left early, and didn't have any prior engagements as far as I know. During discussion on the last agenda item, she simply got up and left. Prior, she seem...

Re: Hennepin County Commissioner - 3rd District

I haven't decided on who to support yet, but my shortlist is narrowed down to Anne Mavity and Katie Hatt. I will not be supporting Marion Greene. I have heard good things about Ben Schweigert, however I question his electability. In conversations that I have had with others regarding this race, I've...
