Re: Nicollet-Lake Area - to Kmart...and beyond!
Its confusing why the city wouldn't issue a GLOBAL RFP and get some major players in here. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to put something really cool here!!! Why not get the ball rolling now?

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
That was temporary for the duration of the I-35W project. The shoulder wasn't built to handle long term through traffic, it required substandard lane widths, and there was no shoulder available for disabled vehicles. That is what I thought but.....why would they not realize how dramatically it help...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
During the past year there was a lane was added to west bound 62 west of France. This was awesome and really seemed to help the traffic flow. A couple weeks ago they took it away and has really f'ed up traffic. Why would they do that???? Please transit nerds take over......

Why not build a ramp that is wrapped in apartments to accommodate any buildings and the existing? Like the Duffey Building proposed for North Loop. Clearly digging is not an option here......water table issues.

Re: Target Center Renovation
Minneapolis shouldn't spend any public money on a new arena. But the city shouldn't reject this idea at all. When billionaire owners and sports teams get involved, there's a force of gravity that can help get a lot of other things happen. Modern stadium deals are more real estate plays than anythin...

Re: West Lake Apartments - 3012 Excelsior Blvd
Fair point. I still hold out hope we will one day get a hotel on this side of the lake as I think it would be popular. The parking lot would be perfect for it! I gotta disagree on this one, the building and parking lot need to become parkland. I realize that the major challenges in that, starting w...

The strip mall site is clearly big enough to handle multiple buildings with retail at the base, residential above. It would be cool to have a pedestrian walkway in between the buildings with outdoor cafes and retail. There is huge potential.

Prediction: in 20 years we will look back on the dramatic work from home shift that occurred in 2020-2022 as being largely a white privilege movement that had huge negative impacts on marginalized urban communities of color. White privilege movement? Please explain why employers keeping there workf...

Re: Nicollet Ave / Eat Street - Whittier, Stevens, Loring Park
Agreed......Nicollet seems to be filling up slowly from DTC to 46th! Now we just need to reconnect at Lake and develop that God Forsaken old Kmart and massive parking lot. I wonder why the city hasn't issued a RFP?

Re: Minneapolis Population / Density - General Discussion
I think our global warming problem is going to ultimately force people out of the south. I spent 4 days in Phoenix at 110-115 degrees per day and 90 at night. It was brutal. Even on our harshest MN winter days....you can always bundle up and get through it. This was unbearable. Plus......they are go...

St Olaf is rumored to have a 27 story residential tower in the works. Then there is 17 N Washington also 27 stories. Alatus is not going to happen. Opus is going to wait......which is good.....their current proposal is weak. Ryan....who knows. North Loop will haven eventually.

That is a very good point!WELL, policing has proven to be pretty ineffective, so an event where 100s of people put art in flimsy tents and expect it to protected overnight by MPD seems like a bad idea.

Why does the "local art community" think the Uptown Art Fair is a laughingstock? What are the issues? What do you mean by the local art community?
