Re: Northside - General Topics

Juxtaposition is replacing the building on the NW corner of Emerson and Broadway with a skatepark. Not sure how I feel about tearing down that old streetcar era building for open space, but I can't be against more skateparks... http://www.kare11.com/article/sports/nfl/superbowl/super-bowl-grant-to-f...

Ramen Kazama
Kyatchi
Hola Arepa (sort of)
Revival
Five Watt

Some of the uplighting is nice, but I really do miss the pedestrian scaled lanterns

Re: Zoning in Minneapolis

As long as upping capacity for parked cars doesn't get in the way of reducing capacity for driving cars, I suppose I'm cool with it.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News

I generally don't seek out vegetarian options, but their menu looks really tasty, and the prices look great for a more casual night out.

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

I've seen Carol Becker mixed up in some terrible Facebook comment threads, almost always on the wrong side of things most people on this forum care about.

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

I'm definitely biased here, but I didn't include French because he does not seem to support skateparks at all. I chatted with him at the convention about it, and he seemed somewhat dismissive of skateboarding in general. He was also one of the only At Large candidates to not fill out the City of Ska...

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

Anyone care to share their Park Board At Large rankings?

So far I'm thinking the following:

1. Devin Hogan (Blaisdell Greenway on here)
2. LaTrisha Vetaw
3. Russ Henry

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017

That's my exact thinking. For a while I thought Hoch wasn't a serious candidate, and his small showing at the convention confirmed that. But since the convention, lawn signs are significantly dominated by Hoch, I'm getting big glossy mailers, and seeing his ads pop up online. He's got the support of...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project

The skate stoppers are so tacky. There are ways to design ledges and benches to prevent use by skateboarders without requiring those ugly knobs. A good designer would have factored that into the original design. Better yet, skip the deterrents and use a more durable, skate resistant material that al...

Re: New City of Minneapolis Office Building

That parking ramp has also been a de facto indoor skatepark since at least the 90s. It has really unique terrain on the ground floor that can't really be found elsewhere in the city, and security has been very lax about people using the space in such a manner. Skaters have been congregating there on...

While the details aren't clear yet, Minneapolis appears set to get dockless bike sharing next year.
