Re: Minneapolis Armory
I realize Soundset has grown immensely since it's start in the Metrodome parking lot, but it would sure be nice if Minneapolis' hip-hop fest could be in Minneapolis and somehow leverage this area. With 28,000 fans last year, it will probably remain at Canterbury, but you never know.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Saw the fruits of over-signalization today when I was biking East on the WATM. A pedestrian walked head-down, against a light in front of a train with it's horn blaring, then into me and another on coming bike, finally realizing his mistake and switching to a light jog for the last 5-6 feet. Scary t...

Re: LRT Disappointments
Anyone have a resource/link as to the point of a divergent diamond? I have used that intersection on bike, car and LRT and found the experience to be universally worse, especially on bike. Or is the answer simply slight better for peak demand car traffic?

Re: Stucco (Portland Cement) Houses
I live in one of these. I like it, but they are not maintenance free. Most houses you see in Minneapolis have the original BASE stucco, however the do a process called re-dashing, which they sandblast the stucco, then apply a new layer to the clean surface created. I just got a quote for my house an...

Re: WaHu Student Housing - (1016 Washington Avenue Southeast
Got a picture today. Silophant is correct, this thing is humongous. Also, this is very near the new Mesa pizza location, which I just discovered despite working two blocks away. That strip mall needs to be the next "victim" of the University Development Industrial Complex. https://farm4.st...

I almost always take the at-grade road crossing on 28th Street and Hiawatha instead of the Sabo Bridge.

Laws/Ordinaces around new(ish) infrastructure
Are there any good resource out there about the laws/rules/ordinances around the new bike infrastructure? I am curious because I got scolded by a police officer for doing a move I thought to be perfectly legal. Turning from a bike box onto an off-street when the pedestrian/trail cycle was active. Th...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
While riding a bus early this evening I saw three cars drive the entirety of the WATM. Two of which nearly collided with my bus when pulling from the tracks back to the lane and again when our bus pulled out from the station. For future reference, it was a rain/sleet mix during the drive time. First...

Re: St. Anthony Main
The first piece of property I looked to purchase was in the original re-development plan of the Pillsbury A mill property, they were taking $5,000 deposits at the time. Little did I know that the market was teetering on the brink of the melt down. I remember the sales person showing me the developer...

Re: Car Sharing
I'd be willing to bet they track GPS coordinates while you drive, so you can calculate speed and speed limit. I would also guessthere are privacy issues about releasing or reviewing that information for "catching" a bad driver, if that is what you are inferring.

Re: Car Sharing
Signed up for car2go after recent frustrations with my bus line. Gave it a try today to meet a colleague for lunch. The technology behind this system is really cool. My colleagues seemed really interested and had a lot of questions about how the 'one way aspect' of the car2go model works. Pros: I fo...

I generally had a tough time getting tolerable service levels from USI wireless, streaming, working from home frequently resulted in failures. Their customer service was excellent and they are local, so both good things, but that was a deal breaker. I've been a Comcast (internet only) customer for t...

Worst Public Art - Congrats East Bank Station!
I am of the opinion that the East Bank station art, designed by Nancy Blum, is arguably the worst public art in the Twin Cities. I work nearby, so I am certainly strongly biased, but I think it is AWFUL. I imagine the thought process going something like this. The most prominent station in our R1 F...
