Re: Hopkins - General Topics
Have they finalized plans for the new bike trail/lane on 17th from excelsior to hw7? Won't be another 8th ave but assuming they didn't choose the painted lanes that might be ambitious. Still say Hopkins could use a better trail along excelsior blvd (yes I know we have the cedar lake but it's good t...

Re: Hopkins - General Topics
Does Hopkins have any plans to build more streets like the bikeway from Mainstreet to the LRT station? Not exactly that amazing. At the Blake Road station, there will be a street connector linking Pierce to Blake passing by the station. It is pretty car-focused. The Trilogy development at Blake/Exc...

Re: Google Maps, Apple Maps, etc.
Don’t know when it was updated but Apple Maps updated the metro’s 3D map out as far as the western border of Hennepin and out to Victoria and Carver (the town) It used to be only as far west as, like, Methodist Hospital. Downtown Hopkins for instance shows the current state of the LRT station and th...

Re: Metropolitan Council
The list of positions to vote for was getting my temper going. Out in Hopkins here I was trying to think if there were much differences, we get to vote for the Three Rivers Park commissioner. We don’t get a vote for the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District or Nine Mile Creek which are appointed by the...

Nick, I found your Minnesota Reformer post very good. I was probably already agreeing with it so this might be my confirmation bias speaking. But good stuff.

Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar
I think for PR and public acceptance they should list the bridge cost separately. We’ve seen how much bridges and tunnels have the highest likelihood to explode coasts. Continuing of lumping the entire project in one lump sum is doing damage to public approval of expansion of mass transit. Similar t...

Adam Platt writes in the Strib about the 2040 plan hinging on a transit system the city has zero control over. https://www.startribune.com/the-2040-equation-density-minus-transit-equals-failure/600337693/ 30-minute times come in for big criticism as affecting reduced transit use. Crappy transit will...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
Why am I just now noticing how insanely shortsighted it is that this almost $3B project did not include a trail along the portion of the route stretching from Shady Oak Station to at least Golden Triangle Station, or even better to the end of the line. Among my many points of poor decisions, the el...
