Re: Northern Lights Express
I would say the lot is at least 80% full most days, have seen it at 95-99% full when the weather is bad. With the current speed restrictions in the Northtown Yard, the bus is actually faster to downtown than Northstar in generally traffic, and as twincitizen points out, actually goes to the CBD. SO ...

CTA's Loop Link BRT stations and dedicated lanes worked real well when I visited this past summer, despite Chicago downtown traffic.

Re: Ritz Residences - 365 Nicollet Mall (334' - 30 stories)
I recall reading that all construction equipment that was blocking sidewalks or roadways had to be removed by the middle of January(ish) for the Super Bowl. So they'll likely bring back a crane in February. I doubt it. The crane wasn't blocking the sidewalks, the building is almost done, plus it co...

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
Also, when NYC Pentagram was brought in to do the new wayfinding and image of Nicollet I was hoping the downtown council might take them on for a redesign or new wayfinding of the skyway, but sadly not... Something like these could have been great https://www.pentagram.com/work/penn-station-west-end...

I'm also a fan of http://rachelbrandon.com/better-signage-for-the-skyway-part-3-of-the-minneapolis-skyway-redesign/ http://rachelbrandon.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/mpls-skyway-signage1.jpg The existing is just so awful, dated, unreadable and way to kitchy. Let's be honest, the lakes aren't downt...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Thinking more about a good pilot route, what about giving the six some dedicated space. It can get pretty slow on Hennepin in the afternoon. Hennepin is set to undergo reconstruction in 2020. https://www.hennepindowntown.com/ Now is the time to push for better bus routing downtown. Also, the 6 is s...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
One of the ideas I've been kicking around in my head for awhile is an express LRT line between the DT's. Umm, you know the Green Line was originally planned to be this, but the neighborhoods didn't want something else to divide communities like 94, and the Met Council wanted development, so a 94 ro...

Re: New City of Minneapolis Office Building
Does anyone know the budget of this new city office project? For some reason I doubt it will be anywhere near 200m dollars, so I think we should keep our expectations a little more reasonable. Based on the design fees of $6.2M, if it's based on an average 12% of construction budget, safe to say pro...

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar
If Frey has his eyes set on Broadway/Washington streetcar, I think that's a win! Nicollet will never happen since it had the perception of being a debacle. If the line turned down Hennepin for two blocks and connected to the Hennepin Avenue/Warehouse District Station, I think then you'd have a prett...

Could we, as a group, maybe, just maybe, refrain from posting about fantasy extensions to routes that haven't yet been built, or even funded? It's fine to have those thoughts in your head (and maybe even whip up a map for your own personal enjoyment), but I am really not sold on the value of broadc...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
Can the current routes (887, 805, 812, 813, 815 and 850) be adjusted in terms of frequency, departure times, and route layout to encourage more people to transfer at there respected stations? NO, Northstar is COMMUTER RAIL, which in the suburbs = Park & Ride plain and simple. Besides the 850, w...

Re: Labeling the Transit System
I personally like the Northstar branding and would want it to stay in a regional scenario, same with NLX branding. That said, each trip could have a route letter/number with it. R100's Northstar, R200's NLX, etc. Portland Streetcar does letters & colors, Seattle just uses street names. I think c...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Obviously, neither the Met Council nor the City of Minneapolis want to come out and say all the construction headaches and $ are to appease the NFL ...No mention of the Super Bowl here, just of improvements which obviously help transport people during the Superbowl.
