Re: Harlem Irving and CA Ventures - 240 Hennepin Ave - 18-20 stories

The tower, while running the length of the block, will be set back after the third floor - about 30' from Hennepin and about 60' from Washington. I'm always confused as to why architects are insistent on doing this with the new product we're seeing. What's the precedent for 3 stories when most of t...

Re: 240 Park Ave S - Zygi's Apartments

But hot damn I hope someone is putting regridding 3rd, plus the Washington Ave freeway interchange redesign, on an accelerated schedule. Is there any precedent for this in the Twin Cities? That would really be a step toward true re-urbanization-- reclaiming our excessive freeway space for more deve...

Re: Wells Fargo Redevelopment - 801 Portland

MSPBJ confirms a bigger project, quotes a Kraus-Anderson VP saying it will now be 17 stories with a rooftop deck. Great news. Kraus-Anderson Cos. had previously been planning a six-level apartment building across the street from its new downtown headquarters. It’s now upped that concept to 17 storie...

Re: Washington and Portland Mixed Use - 22 stories

Yep, redevelopment of Wells Fargo at 8th and Portland. Oh, true. So minus the big part then. I take that back - looks like K-A has revised the 6 story for a 17 story. Kraus-Anderson Cos. had previously been planning a six-level apartment building across the street from its new downtown headquarters...

Re: Washington and Portland Mixed Use - 22 stories

A rare unlocked F&C article with some commentary. Not too much new info. It does state that they don't plan to start construction until the spring of 2019, with completion two years after that. Hope the apartment market doesn't soften too much in the interim where they would reconsider. This may...

Re: Ironclad Apartments & Moxy Hotel - Washington & Chicago

Good description of the development and area. I like the ambition the Kharbanda family went into this with-- maybe it took that outside non-developer mindset to produce something better than a 5-1 here. Like I think it was said on the forum before, all of the Mill District could have been 8-12 stori...

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)

The city's new 8th tallest tower is looking better and better. It's reminding me of LaSalle Plaza or 50 South 6th. Also cool to see what looks like a curb separated bikeway on Hennepin on the site plans. Probably a good sign that it is being planned for.

Re: Arby’s Island

Why temper your statement to "fair amount of parking" when you're basically planning for every unit to have a space? I'm guessing not much thought went into that statement. A <1.0 parking ratio actually seemed impressive to me, especially for Uptown. When I was looking at downtown parking...

Reuter Walton coming in hot with 170 units and "a fair amount of parking." $45 million.

Faribault Woolen Mill is opening up next to Northern Coffeeworks on Washington. Edit: Humdinger and Sons moved to 404 Washignton Ave N Cool to see North Loop-caliber retail spread east down Washington. Condos would be great. I can't believe, with how tight our housing market is (record low home sales), that developers aren't clamoring to build more owner-occupied product downtown.

Re: 365 Nicollet (334' - 30 stories)

Do we think the planned twin tower will happen yet this cycle? I'm thinking it's looking less and less likely. We have so much in the pipeline to be delivered in the next 12-18 months. I'd hate for that half block to sit empty for another 5-8 years.

That is good to know. I didn't have much experience in the food court or skyway level retail before Macy's closed. The new atrium will only help that cross flow.

Re: The Once and Future Dayton's

Getting those 51k trips/people down two floors to the lower level for a food court will be one of the biggest challenges for this project, I think. People don't even leave the skyway for ground floor retail... The two level atrium will have to be pretty enticing.
