Downtown Minneapolis General Discussion
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Anyone else view the road diagram and see the bike lane is only half the distance?
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
The convention center plaza looks like it is being "updated"? All of the trees and benches have been removed. I can't find any plans for what is happening. Is there any information out there on what is happening?

Huh. Looked like up and down 2nd there were things being prepared in a few spots. Maybe to do with whatever else is going on?

If you go to the bottom of the page here and click on "Plaza 2020 Renovations", you can scroll through renderings of the project.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Does anyone know of a good resource that would have before and after aerial photos of downtown that would highlight how much surface parking has been developed in the past decade or so? Specifically looking for the "East Town" area.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
I'm not sure if you can do it in Google Maps, but if you use the full desktop version of Google Earth, there's a timeline where you can look back at aerial photos going back quite a ways.

I’ve occasionally seen a four year image posted on Twitter starting in 2000 ending in 2017.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Back in 2015, with a lot of spare time I made this map of surface parking lots/underutilized land.

The Hennepin property map has aerial imagery from about every two years dating back to 2000: https://gis.hennepin.us/Property/map/de ... ,0,0,0,0,0
For older aerials, use MHAPO: https://apps.lib.umn.edu/mhapo/

Couldn’t find a thread for the Centurylink building... the microwave antennas are being removed per this reddit post

More like this?
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Is that building exclusively occupied by Century Link?
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
I always thought that antenna structure added a lot to that building. Unfortunate that they're going, especially since the building's original form was already compromised by the addition.
