Don't forget to click on the picture to enlarge. It's kind of fun to look at what people are doing on their balconies, out in the park, down by the LRT. Fun I tell you.

Just noticed there's a residential building on 5th between park and Chicago (left side of the picture). I don't recall hearing any plans for that block.
That's been discussed in the past. In previous renderings that parcel has been ID'd as a development opportunity, but it's owned by Hennepin County (the medical examiner's office) and there has been no indication that the County is currently interested or willing to sell.

I feel bad for the woman being strangled on the upper balcony of the building on the Hennepin County property (that isn't even proposed). It's like watching Rear View Window.

I asked the Chief Medical Examiner if there were any plans to redevelop his prime real estate, and I got the definite feeling there was before he was quickly silenced by another county administrator who was in the same session. I'm fairly confident there's something in the works.

I don't know what kind of security they require if any... but I can't help but imagine Retail on the north side, Examiners office on the south side ground level, and a bunch of apartments on top wouldn't do well...

The zoom is cool, but doing that makes me wonder are the apartment on the 4th street only facing the street with the halls next to the office building? If not, I'm sure I'd not want to wake up to having someone looking in my apartment from the office building across a short distance.
Funny you should say that. My cube in Galtier Plaza sits right across the atrium from someone's apartment and he keeps the shades wide open. All the time. Including. when. naked.

What's messed up are the 60 year old Tulip Poplars filling the park. It will never look like that in our lifetime.

I'm sure some of you have seen this already from streets.mn retweeting it but apparently "The Yard" is now being renamed "Commons" and is looking for a landscape architecture team. I'm at the point of major optimism right now since it looks like there has been a lot of negotiating to make this an actual park place. :D

Good. Commons implies commoner or holding it in common among all people, so therefore I assume this will have minimal/no privatization of the space for the Vikings..................

One can only hope, but well reading the document they sure do make it seem like it. I really just want this to be a lot like Loring park. They have concerts and events there but people are still hanging out there every day

I think you'll be sorely disappointed if you're expecting a Loring Park, regardless of how public it is...

The concept behind it. A wide open space that is available for use by companies but not controlled by it. I am not expecting something of the caliber that is Loring park haha. I basically want a park I'm realizing...

I don't think this needs much more than tables/chairs/benches, some trees/landscaping, and maybe a plaza area. No one's going to be using this for pick-up football, but I don't think that's really a problem; this is going to end up being much more like a village green/town square than a neighborhood park.

I'd play a game of pick up here... It's right in front of the vikings stadium. Don't underestimate a growing downtown area full of young professionals
