Point taken, although in his defense, I assume that the cross-section refers to the underpasses themselves -- the sidewalks would likely stay above ground through the park (as likely should the bike path).

Yes, sidewalks along the underpasses would be stupid and I assume his plan is to keep pedestrians above ground, in the park. I wish they'd included his drawing, the kid sounds like he's on the ball. I also like his idea of connecting the Greenway streetcar with the green line

I too dig the idea that 7th graders are legitimately interested in solving transpiration problems. And I have a serious love of maps myself (duh). I'd like to see more of this kid's work!

I found graph paper was pretty good at drawing fictional cities- I'd draw them and then design freeway networks.

A book I've probably read every year for the past 40 years. I know some people think it's weird to read a book more than once but those same people will watch a movie multiple times and movies never do justice to a book.

How about an 11th grader thinking to hell with traffic pronlems, development and density is always the first solution and the only option.

Also I don't like the streetcar idea because I don't fond a benefit in streetcars as a whole.

The eastern block (closest to the stadium) will be left mostly open to accommodate events put on by the Vikings and the Minnesota Sports Facility Authority (MSFA).

In other words it will be a tailgating lot.

I guess I thought the Vikes were only using the LRT station block as a plaza for events, while the main 1 + 2/3 park blocks would be dedicated for non-game activities. At least it's only 40 days I guess.

I would hardly consider a playing field or skating rink to be a "signature feature". You can find them in practically every neighborhood park. And why can't they get rid of that 1/3 block apartment so there's at least one full block dedicated to park (real park, not tailgate lot). Sorry to be so negative folks, but this thing has the makings of a complete dud.

Completely agree. I hope they don't try to do anything tacky (a zip line?! Seriously!?). Just do something classy and timeless

I have to agree that so far I've seen nothing to make me support this park. This is an urban park. There should not be a baseball field to have fouls smashing windows of building and passing cars. Mears park in St. Paul is what I would envision, but that would not be very useful to the Viking. Hard to get thrill by a big green lawn that will have worn trails across it.
