Please, someone, post, anything! You're killing me!
Don't worry, I managed to grab a shot of the new rendering from the presentation.

Ah, when they learned about the secret 400' height limit they cut it back to 30'. Classic developer thing to do.

That's actually very nice by Walmart standards.

Business Journal is saying that they want a 5 star hotel with this development. Possibly a Four Seasons. Weird...there is a Four Seasons plane at MSP right now.

More on that. Guaranteed this isn't a destination, just maintenance.

This iconic, reduced in height tower is a modern day luxury version of what's located at 1247 St. Anthony Ave in St. Paul.. It's almost the exact same too.

A Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton would be huge! The Twin Cities don't have any true luxury brands. The JW at MOA is up there but still in the "upper-upscale" segment IMO. If this rumor is real, then it's a good sign for the "iconic-ness" of this building because these brands will ONLY locate themselves in iconic buildings.

Well, that's simply not true. I've seen plenty of ugly Four Seasons and Ritz-Carltons in my travels. The Boston Four Seasons comes to mind, as does the Ritz-Carlton in St. Louis.

W, I guess. The Grand, which is a Kimpton property, is luxury as well. Both are boutique, of course.

What SRR said. But it can't hurt.

I'm not a big fan of the Four Seasons in Denver either. That's a pretty bland building.

Point taken. I have not spent any significant time in either city. My interactions with these brands have been in APAC, Hong Kong in Shanghai in particular.

However, the W and the Kimpton, while very nice hotels, are not true luxury brands.

There is nothing special or iconic about this building regardless of its tenants. It falls way short of all the hype and excitement originally generated for this site.. Which is the typical pattern for Minneapolis... 100% Guaranteed floor count cut down and a new wide and boxy appearance with very little Architectural character as tonight will prove.

Actually this way we get the chance to disprove his supposed insider information in about 2 hours.

Beauty is clearly in the eye of the beholder. However, no "inside info" is needed to know the track record of floor count reduction in taller buildings built or proposed in Minneapolis in the last 20+ years. It's not negativity it's facts.
