Looks like they're getting started on connecting the skyway from the library to 365 Nicollet, which I suppose is the final confirmation that 301 Nicollet is dead, in its current form at least.

I don't see why that would mean 301 is dead. Per https://thedevelopmenttracker.com/mpls/ ... ollet-site, 301 was always supposed to be on the skyway system via 365.

Headed in to my office to clean my desk for due to new desk assignments. Stopped to check the progress. Tried a photo taken through my office’s dirty windows, I like the look.

Something we haven't talked about in forever, but that I believe is still on the table:

This project was designed to have a cut through across its plaza for the future streetcar routing to jog from Nicollet to Hennepin. Does this jog still make sense if the mode shifts from streetcar to aBRT, or would the aBRT just use the existing lanes? Would the easement still be enforced for aBRT, or is it streetcar specific?

Would this still be constrained to the streetcar fund or can it shift to bus? Either way its a much better building then I expected and really helps make that end of Nicollet mall feel far more welcoming to bikers and pedestrian with the park on the other side.

The streetcar fund was created by state law, and a change in purpose requires legislation. Rep. Jordan proposed that legislation in this past session, but I don't believe it was passed. Hopefully it will work its way through in the coming years.

I imagine aBRT will use the road and the weird angle of the base of this building will remain in the future as an interesting urban trivia question, kinda like how UBS Plaza in St. Paul has two towers with a weird diagonal gap in the middle that was intended to serve as a PRT station.

It's far from the end of the world. By having that diagonal cut, it will create some interesting Kevin Lynch-ian spatial drama for travelers on Hennepin.

I kind of remember that now! I was obsessed with Town Square when it was planned and built.

I'd say great view. Not so much the shot. Dirty window with lots of glare. So gold star for effort.

Why do people on here always have to be so negative or make such snarky comments

You guys are all a bunch of passive aggressive fuck wads. Was wondering why I even continued to bother following this site. Glad I no longer live in Minneapolis. Be happy to follow the Development Tracker instead to keep up with developments in my hometown. Bye bitches

I’m not sure you understand the terms ‘snarky’ and ‘passive aggressive’, because the comment you took issue with was neither. In fact, for Minnesota, it was remarkably non-passive aggressive. More direct and New York-ish actually...

Passive-Aggresive would have been something like “Nice picture. It looks like I’ll have to clean my screen to see it correctly, though, because I’m seeing a lot of dots...”

I agree, Folks on here think too much of themselves and have their own type of elitism. The forum suffers because of it.
