It is a laugh about the residents. And I love the way it's phrased:

"The team has said that they do not object outright to the additional level, but wanted assurances that residents would not leave during games."

What are they asking the city to do? Declare Martial Law on game days?

“Wise men speak because they have something to say; fools because they have to say something.”

Exactly what I was thinking. So if 10 residents leave their own building in the 30 minutes that 50,000 fans do, this will disrupt traffic? What a dumb thing. So they will be locked in?

Wilf is really an idiot about this - I am pretty sure that you can't lock anyone up until his little game is over... This thing will blow away fast... I really wish that Ryan would make this a flagship development along the line of Magellan's Aqua... that building is really amazing!

This is the best thing I've ever heard out of the stadium authority:
The Vikings were saying we think it will inhibit our exit times for those 10 games. The authority was very clear that from our perspective we were not concerned about that.

The Vikings put forth a tremendous effort in what would be a clear front runner in the Preposterous Statement Of The Year Tournament on KFAN. I really give kudos to the Vikings for the level of thought/detail they put into this preposterous statement - I hope this is submitted.

Where were they when the RFP was out? Seems a little late now. The only reason they have a chance is due to the Ryan shenanigans. But if Ryan can get the deal back in line to what the city accepted during the RFP process, the city would likely be legally obligated to keep with Ryan.

This clearly has more to do with access to the Commons and control of the area on gamedays than it has to do with air rights to a parking ramp.

Not only that, but where in the world are their residents going to park that would be any different than the residents in the Ryan proposal?

Didn't the city just move on Ryan today during the city meeting?

With what stipulations? Total control of the park every time any event is hosted in the stadium?

The Strib’s Eric Roper says the Vikings offered $8.1 million for the right to build 16 to 18 stories of residential and retail, designed by ESG Architects and constructed by Mortenson, for $62 to $72 million, to be completed in July 2016. The council ignored the offer completely and chose Ryan.

ryan proposal has more residential units. long term more tax revenue. vikings offer much more immediate dollars. 5 million more nothing to sneeze but why do the vikings operate in this last minute manner.

I find it had to believe that the Viking can offer 8.1 million now for a building half the size of Ryan's. Where was that RFP offer when the bids were going out.

I don't know how the MFSC could let the Viking use the parking ramp for tenants, but not Ryan. I think with the city and the fact that they are using their bonding leverage to build this ramp will have some sway on who can use this ramp. At this point the MFSC reasoning will not hold water. If the Wilf's need to add parking for the tenant, then the Ryan project should be able to do the same.

Wouldn't 8.1 million be able to completely fund the yard? Why would they dismiss that out of hand?

I would guess litigation would probably cost more. The Vikings had their chance to propose when the RFP came out.

It's almost as though the Vikings are an out-of-touch family business with poor feel for this cities' real estate market and kind of crappy public relations.
