So, to actually add to the conversation, here's the pictures in question, in full context:

https://www.facebook.com/35581768786733 ... nt_count=1

They look like actual pictures to me, and they're not posted as "look at our work in progress" but "this is what your apartment will look like." I can't really see any lighting so I won't make any judgement on that, but the faucets do look pretty plain. I'd also be pretty upset at a single basin sink, as well.

did you read that that finish package is only available on even floors!? I'd be so upset if I wanted birch but am only willing to pay 2 grand a month for a room on odd floors. :/ how terrible,a disgrace to Minneapolis and the people who have the money to spend, I bet Magellan didn't even do target marketing or hire a designer to help them appoint these rooms.

What is the difference if you live on an even or odd floor. You basically have two design choices that are available. To me neither looks like a high end, especially the appliances. While the counter tops are granite. the rest of the details are just too middle end to get me to pay high bucks for one.

I'm being sarcastic. clearly Magellan has created finish packages it thinks at least a few hundred people are willing to pay that kind of money for. it's just fmp diving into the shallow end of the pool again ;)

When I went to the IDS Kiosk , there were at least a couple (if not several) different interior design options. The have the mock ups of the different finishes on one wall. I think if anyone is really interested , they should go to the IDS and see for themselves.

I think judging the interior from the a couple photos is premature and I think the apartments will be pretty high quality. That said, I'm still personally skeptical that these apartments are really worth the rent they are trying to charge.

From the kitchen shots, I can safely say my [much cheaper] Soo Line unit has much higher quality finishes and appliances. That's actually pretty disappointing to me, because I considered LPM a possible eventually upgrade. Not anymore...

That seems to be a job done by many. Reoccurring them that has made me not even want to come on the forum anymore because of the amount of ranting and hardcore judging

When exactly is an appropriate time to form opinions on the finishes? I've seen the finishes in person and four photos at this point... How is that "premature?" :|

Should we stop all discussion on projects until they're fully finished?

Keeping this to kitchens, I got interested in comparing the kitchens and finishes at recent lu*ury apartments. I tried to keep the pictures of similar quality and angle, but it's tough to find perfectly clear shots.

Can't find a non-render Nic shot. Any others I'm leaving out?

My takeaway is that it's totally on par with the other new projects... but I just expected much more with a $2k+ rent. I thought that high pricetag meant the interior would be a step above. I may be wrong, from these two kitchen shots we have. But I'm more than happy to be wrong. :)

I suppose "luxury" is a relative sliding scale, but at least if we are comparing it to the going rental rates for these projects, I wouldn't define any of these as luxurious. I'm not expecting Viking ranges and Poggenpohl cabinetry, but the appliances in the photos appear to be very average midrange products. A lot of these designs don't even appear to be keeping up with midwestern trends.

I think the developer is selling "new" and "lots of common amenities" as luxury, which is not to say this is a bad strategy.

The sink is definitely much cheaper than the others. I just think that and the white walls make it look a bit cheaper than the rest. Maybe the walls are yet to be painted... this is true. No one will really know until they see for themselves or wait until the place in finished and LPM starts posting pics of the finished products.

Also, you don't have Lime but the kitchens are a combination of the appliances and sink at Vue and cabinets at 222 Hennepin with Ice Quartz (that's what they call it) counter tops in some units and laminate counter tops in others.

What's with the drop-in sinks? Under-mount would be what, an extra $100 each? But it would look so much better, especially on that LPM island.

It's the sink/ appliances that make it look cheap. That said -- out of the pictures posted above, the LPM has by far the best kitchens overall.

Agreed.

It appears that the cost of adding extra details and amenities to an apartment kitchen doesn't see a great return. All of those are perfectly fine and functional, though.

The views command the rent, not the faucets.

In other news, I'm getting Facebook ads for that faucet. Also I kind of want that faucet.

Maybe they're intentionally doing the finishes on the cheaper side, thinking that the building will be rolled over to condos in five years and the units personalized?

Damn, who knew I was so damn luxurious. LPM has the appliance set I put in my house here in Standish. My sink is an undermount though. Should've dropped it in I guess. :P
