They have secured financing for this project.

Sounds like demolition will begin in the fall, following with groundbreaking in November, or December.

K, great news, but this does make me more nervous about 1368 LaSalle.....I want that one more than any other project right now!

Magellan is a powerhouse developer, and I will be very surprised if they don't get financing for their project. I also think 1368 Lasalle could very easily be a future condo conversion given its very high quality design. And Magellan is no stranger to projects that are a combination of rental and home ownership. I could see 1368 be a combo building at some point in the future. The same holds true for Nicollet Residences.

The word "luxury" is starting to get pretty played out. And I wonder what "guest suites" are?

Calculating from the old drawings, this should be about 295 feet, which is pretty much exactly the same height as Grant Park.

Guest suites are furnished apartments for overnight stays.

"Luxury" might be played out but it's all relative. It's a pretty apt description of this building in this market. Or would you prefer they just call it "expensive"?

Rooms that can be rented out for your guests. Relatives or friends can stay in the same building without actually being inside your unit.

it looks a little stunted in that rendering...stubby. i guess I'm fine with anything over 20 floors.

Unfortunately, I agree.
Looked a lot better with 33 stories.

The Strib rendering looks like it might be skewed horizontally. I've never heard of guest suites like that before, I wonder if they need a lodging license or something?

No extra license. They are actually fairly common in larger buildings. As for luxury... It seems every apartment project as of late is luxury. The problem with 'luxury' is it has no qualifier. Luxury 20 years ago was a built in dishwasher in every unit with corian countertops. Don't get fooled by broker babble.

Not to hop on the stubby bandwagon, but that updated rendering on Star Trib... I hope that the aspect ratio on that got messed up, because it does truly look quite stout.

I'm betting it'll be ~307 feet. If they're taking out 6 residential floors at 9' 8" each, that would come to a 58' reduction. I believe it was to be 365' originally (-58) = 307.

I guess that would probably be right...are you taking that from the drawings on the city of Minneapolis page? I accounted for the 18' "34th floor", that would now be the 28th, but I didn't take into account the pedestal in my calculating...which must have made a difference?

No wait, thats not right...the original height was 357', and now that I look at it, some of the residential floors were different heights. So who knows how tall it will be. Here are the original drawings, have at it! I am sure you are better at calculating these things than me.
