Once the rest of the block gets filled in the clunkiness will be less noticeable. Anybody know if the leasing office has opened in Baker Center?

Are they done with the crown? From the street, and also the roof of my building, I can't tell if I'm looking at a finished product. I'm kinda getting "The Ivy" stomach pangs at this point.

As of today it is still not "open" per se. There are two openings and one has the bars physically lifted to allow access with a large LCD and some other promotional materials, but the other half, presumably where the actual leasing office will be is still closed and under construction. Fairly sleek, but I'm confused why this is so far from the building itself. Either cheap or just high traffic?

I'd say you are right on both counts for why the Baker Block. High count skyway traffic and there is a load of empty space that the owner would at least like to have some cash flowing thru. Plus I think that Opus would be paying for the build out here. So it would make for a more attractive space to rent once Opus is done using the space. This is my Opinion, not fact!

222 did well with their off the beaten path skywalk leasing office. So this should help Opus more.

Laramar is still working on hiring the property manager. The leasing office will be opening immediately after this is done, as the property manager will also be over-seeing the lease-up (i have an acquaintance that is a finalist).

I'll take back the having the space better to rent out later. There is a mini unit set up in there with a model kitchen. But this is still cash flow for the owner of the Bakers block.

A quick glance this morning indicated to me that the Baker sales center might now be open, I'll try to hit it up tomorrow.

I have an email saying today was the opening day for leasing. Also said the full site will be up today, too, but it's not working right now...

http://www.theniconfifth.com shows a new site for me. I'd like to have a talk with the web designer who thought it'd be a good idea to use a 4000 x 2700 pixel, 8.9MB image for the background. I'm glad I'm not paying their hosting bill.

I had to zoom my chrome browser out to 50% just to comprehend it. That nav bar on top is horribly large.

Ugh, and the site is terribly organized, too. As an apartment seeker, I was actually curious what utilities are included, fees, and actual useful information. It's just floorplans and a lot of fluff. Not even interior renders/shots on the site. Oh well.

Someone discovered their gigantic background image and fixed it already. Somewhat. The site is still super duper broken on mobile, which is fine because people renting luxury apartments certainly don't have smartphones and tablets. /snark

@IllogicalJake: on this page you can click the "Residence Photo Gallery" link for some renders. Similarly, the "Little Black Book" has some additional information.

What's the deal with placing the walk-in-closets behind the bathrooms in the larger layouts? I'd rather go through a closet/dressing room to reach the bathroom, especially since the 'stool' is not in a separate enclosure.

Off-topic geeky crap:

A coworker and I spent some time digging into that site (we're web developers) to figure out what kind of tool (tech tool, not person tool) would produce such a horribly-coded site. Turns out they used Adobe Muse, a relatively new application that's supposed to allow print designers to build websites without having to write a single line of code. You know, because print == web and writing code is for luzers. What a mess. Opus better hope no one with a mobile device dares visit the site (see snark above) to maybe possibly consider renting from them.

/Off-topic geeky crap.

Funny, their Nic's Penthouses pic is taken from the top of the Churchill apartments. The Nic's views will be nothing close to that.

Those penthouse finishes look real nice. Might even call them luxurious.

Leasing office is definitely now open. More spacious than I would have thought. Includes what appears to be a model of one of their kitchens as well.
