Eight or nine dudes in suits walking around in the ground floor retail space this morning. They had all the lights on and it was amazing how different the corner of 5th and Marq looked with it lit up. It'll be a huge improvement once something goes in there. Fingers crossed that they were liking what they were seeing.

Last night Opus mentioned that the building is 75% leased. It's been open 7 months, and he said they usually count on an 18 month timeframe.

I'm not surprised at all that they have already reached 75%. It's not the best looking new building, but it does offer some great amenities and the location is perfect. I bet there are a few people on the development team who are kicking themsleves for not making thiss a taller building.

Now all we need is a restautant and a few stores to lease the retails space. It's a bit depressing walking by and seeing all the empty windows at street level.

I saw some wall sections being carried into the retail space along marq. Also so more papers taped to the walls on the interior

IS this one spot or a few spots? Glad to finally see something going in. I suppose no restaurant along Nicollet will want to set up shop until after the Xcel building is finished and the dust settles.

That's a long time. Do you really think that space will be vacant until 2017?

They may end up waiting until the mall is reconstructed so that they will have both a clean patio and easy access. Until the Xcel's exterior is installed I don't see any restaurant moving in with mall or Xcel's construction going on next door.

The wrap that is was starting to go up when I took the picture now covers the entire first floor of retail. Lights were on inside too

Stone Real Estate is based out of Chicago but has this listed as a suburban property and only uses a rendering. A little strange. I already e-mailed about the suburban property part.

A McDonalds? A golf shop? Maybe go upscale with an Applebees? Yeah, those would fit in real nice with the surrounding area.

They said they're going to fix where the Nic is listed on their site. They said they don't believe that Minneapolis is a suburb and meant no disrespect.

Damn straight. St. Paul is the suburb, amirite?

(Note: I am not right. St. Paul is not a suburb.)

In that last picture, it looks like the same planters that were there for the past 30 years. Amirite?

The doors were open in the retail space on the ground level on the corner with Marquette and there seemed to be plans of some sort on the floor and one or two people at least thinking about working. Anyone know if there's finally going to be a retail tenant?

Lol that it's the Marquette corner that filled up before the skyway level or the Nicollet corner.

I'm confused though. The address for the permits is 415 Nicollet Mall. That would mean it's closer to Xcel, right?

Looks like 415 Nicollet Mall is the official parcel address, according to the Hennepin tax map.
