There certainly appears to be something going on over here. Nothing on the permit front though.

Per the Bridgewater's monthly newsletter:

"Shamrock broke ground on their next development across the street. It should be ready spring 2014."

Hell yes, I love this project! This one WILL make a dent in the skyline, but only because the "skyline" to the E/SE is very short. It'll also enclose Gold Medal Park nicely and (I'm sure) it will be an oft-used photo vantage point for future skyline shots!

Awesome news! With this lot filled and the Mill City Quarter project the Mill District wont have but only a few open lots. You'll be able to walk down 2nd street from 3rd to 11th without going past a surface parking lot. So is this the only condo project under construction right now in Minneapolis?

Since it probably doesn't merit its own thread, I'll ask here. Can anyone fill me in on the story behind the vacant lot in front of the Guthrie parking ramp, facing Washington? I know the ramp was designed to be wrapped with buildings, but what happened? Has anything been proposed here recently?

2 cancelled projects: The Revue Flats from 2006/2007 and the Artspace HQ/artist lofts cancelled this year.

Great news about the groundbreaking.

Difficult to imagine this level of development finding its way to Washington and across without sidewalk widening / traffic calming on Washington.

They won't realize it's a problem until a large number of people get hit by cars. That's my prediction there

Perhaps the influx of residents off 2nd street will create a constituency for pedestrian improvements. The critical mass isn't there yet.

Why would it be difficult to imagine? There are residential buildings as tall or taller than this on streets just as busy all around downtown....including Washington Ave. itself.

I believe there is a master plan/concept that includes widening sidewalks, slowing traffic and even sharing the road with peds and cyclists, and greening the streetscape.

Despite the site not looking like much of a construction site, half the lot is a big hole now.

New name for Park Vista - "Stonebridge Lofts"

I spoke with Stanton on Friday and he shared the new name. Since it is no longer directly across from a park, it makes sense to rename it. Project should be complete by spring 2014.

I live in the North Loop and also received one of the horrible mailers for this project. What surprised me was that they were already sending those out when the project is just beginning and won't be completed until Spring 2014. Does this seem early to anyone else?

What is so horrible about these flyers? They look average to me. We aren't all graphic designers:) I guess they don't wow, but they probably just look like an average mailing for most folks like me.
