This includes that fine redevelopment parcel next door, Panera bread.

Wish they would be moving these folks downtown... I'm guessing they would prefer downtown...

It will probably be easier to find space for all of them at TNC, though. Plus they might need the space they have in TPC if they pull back from City Center. I'm sure they have open space downtown now, but it's likely scattered around.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
That was Prudential before Target that the building was wired more to IT type jobs, so I'm pretty sure that a lot of the employees at this site would be more along the lines of IT which are moving to the BP campus. Not sure now that Canada is no long a part of Target's market that they really needed that large campus up in BP. But that was started before the great Target crash came with the Canada debacle and the credit card fiasco. Target probably needs the cash from the real estate and having all that BP space that is probably not all needed, they found it just too hard not to consolidate. Also that 394 real estate should fetch a nice price premium just for its location close to DT.Wish they would be moving these folks downtown... I'm guessing they would prefer downtown...

Unless Target subleases, I think that they have a fairly good lease for their space in City Center. Doubt they will be leaving it anytime soon.

Since this really doesn't have anything to do with DT Mpls other than the hypothetical wish of all of us that jobs were moving DT rather than BP... can we keep the discussion in the relevant threads?

Pandora, the online music streaming website, is opening a branch in IDS Center soon. The reason why? Our advertising firms.
The space will be 5,000 sq ft with 20 people, and room to grow on.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
Thanks for doing all that, btw. I finally read one of the print stories on the move and there was a buried nugget that Target also extended their lease at City Center, for an undisclosed length of time. I'm pretty sure it was already good through 2023. IIRC from previous articles, they have flexibility in that lease to reduce their footprint and give up space over time. None of that points to them building a new downtown facility any time soon though.Since this really doesn't have anything to do with DT Mpls other than the hypothetical wish of all of us that jobs were moving DT rather than BP... can we keep the discussion in the relevant threads?

EDIT: Looks like I had previously found this article from 2009!
I'll guess the recent extension news is that they officially signed (some length of) those extension options. It's probably safe to say that Target will have a sizable presence in City Center thru at least the mid-2020s.http://www.startribune.com/business/42761172.html
"The new lease term will extend through December 2023, with renewal extensions through 2038."
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
I think that Target will have to really expand their urban locations before they get anywhere close to needing a new office tower. They are now finally getting there ducks in a row, after their major corporate upheaval, so it will be a few more years before we see much of a major expansion from Target. Will have to see how the move to the cities goes across the country before we know whether this city migration is short term or long term.

Exposed floor trusses? Smothered in fireproofing maybe.

HDR is planning to move its local Twin Cities branch from St Paul to Minneapolis, more specifically Mayo Clinic Square.

I like the idea of having offices on skyway level and retail on the ground. It's the way it should've been all along in my opinion. MC2 makes it a lot easier because of the open design. Easy to get to the ground floor.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
Huh. Cool. (Well, not for the employees that have houses in Hudson, I guess.) I wonder if they'll eventually be consolidating their Golden Valley (listed as "Minneapolis") office to MC2 as well, or if they'll just leave it where it is.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
Bizjournal article on the new Perkins + Will office in IDS had an interesting quote in it
http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/b ... polis.html
http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/b ... polis.html
The new landlord and tenant are already getting along, as IDS Center has hired Perkins+Will for a project.
“After seeing Perkins+Will’s exciting design renderings for its new workspace and reviewing its innovative solutions for its other clients, Accesso Partners, owner of IDS Center, contracted with the firm to create a new architectural approach for our Nicollet Mall entrance," Deb Kolar, the IDS Center’s general manager said in the release.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
There is only one entrance on the mall, unless they are talking for the new retail that is going into the old GAP spot. Any word on a tenant/s for that space yet?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
Sounds more like they're wanting to renovate the current entrance
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
I think the current one is flat with 4-5 revolving doors. Can't remember if it has a double entry for a thermal break.Sounds more like they're wanting to renovate the current entrance
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
Is it too soon to start thinking about historical preservation of the IDS?
Not really kidding.
