Some of them will, they will all be complete by Dec 31st. Until they are complete they will have standard bus stop signs.
Even more reason why the buses should stay on Hennepin until after the Super Bowl. Actually I don't really care either way, as long as I know where to stand each day.

I don't really care either. I would think it would make more sense to keep everything the way it is until after the Super Bowl. Why move everything just for a little over four weeks?

Anyone know if the new mall is taxi-fee? I know that idea had been floated at one point.
It is taxi free! The only vehicles allowed are bicycles, buses, and Metro Mobility vehicles.
And Uber drivers who don't give a crap. There is always that ONE.

Apparently the out of date renewable energy display on the 5th St side of the Xcel Energy plaza will be replaced tomorrow with a 75' wind turbine blade.

I noticed recently that the new bus shelters will be much smaller than the large ones we had before. Personally, I enjoyed the shelter the old ones provided when I waited for the bus in -10 degrees as a college student.

So the buses are back... how is it?

Seems to be running smoothly. However:

1. I prefer catching my bus on Hennepin (since I could also catch other buses going the same direction).
2. Bus shelters are still being installed. And the footprints look a lot smaller than the old ones.
3. Buses move back to Hennepin in mid-January.

Looks like they're doing photo-ops... Pretty cool, but wish it was standing upright.

Agreed 100%. Then they could have had a full-size one. That's about 40% of the size of the ones being installed on modern projects.

My wife an I were biking down the Mall this weekend and started chuckling at a stoplight given that the crosswalk voices pronounces Nicollet incorrectly.

Okay, good. I noticed that this morning and panicked that maybe I've been pronouncing it wrong for years.

How do people feel about the lighting on Nicolette [sic] Mall. Personally, I feel it's extremely in adequate. At night it feels dark and dingy. I think it especially looks dingy in the area that doesn't have the light walk.

Some of the uplighting is nice, but I really do miss the pedestrian scaled lanterns

The biggest issue facing Nicollet Mall now is to get the many vacant store fronts filled with retail tenants. It's feels barren with all those empty spaces.

Yeah, the whole building by Nicollet Mall Station, Macy's, the old Barnes & Noble.... :(

On another note, they built that whole second platform for Nicollet Mall station for some reason why isn't that 'open'? Far as I can tell it's done but they just haven't taken the covers off the machines. Why was that other side put in in the first place?

Well Macy's is being replaced by The Dayton's Project: http://www.thedaytonsproject.com/

The second LRT platform is opening on Dec 15th, it is for the future SWLRT and Bottineau LRT extensions, so people can board on one side, and alight on the other side.

As far as the big retail space in Ren Square by the station, the "For Lease" posters came down a few weeks ago, and it's no longer listed on MidAmerica's website. So either something's happening there, or the building owner has given up and is content to let it sit empty forever.

Hopefully it involves blowing up the first 2 floors. The PoMo arches have got to go.

Thanks for this little tidbit. I'm not sure I'd seen this anywhere else!
