"1. All site improvements shall be completed by August 29, 2018, unless extended by the
Zoning Administrator, or the permit may be revoked for non-compliance."

They can be extended administratively, without an additional public process. That's how the City Club Apartments at 10th and Marquette abruptly rose from the dead about 2.5 years after it was approved.

Is there a way for us common folk to know if something has been administratively extended? That makes sense about city club Apartments, I’ve been racking my head about that.

I think I saw some equipment on site? Something may be finally starting here.

Yesterday morning there was Xfinity equipment on site, so I assumed they weren't beginning to build anything (but had the same thought as I was approaching before I could see the markings).

When do the planning Commission approvals expire?

That's great. This is a horribly ugly block right now.

There is a construction trailer and barriers up on this project.

Still need to do demo work on the existing ex-MN AIDS Project building

Has anything happened with the old church adjacent to this project (discussed upthread)?

From what I saw, the plans for this went before the planning commission more than two years ago, doesn’t that mean that the plans must be approved again?

That’s what I was wondering. That’s the last thing I saw go before the planning commission. Like I said, I believe that was over two years ago.

No. There's a different rendering in the article just a few posts up.

That’s really strange. Why didn’t they have to go back to the planning commission with the aesthetic changes?

Rant:
It really bothers me that developers don’t have to stick to the aesthetic proposals that go before the planning commission. In my opinion, if you tell the city that this is what the building will look like, that’s exactly what the building should look like when it’s completed. I really hope that’s an area Minneapolis works on. Holding developers accountable to the aesthetic design they submit to the planning commission.

Yes, but that was the original rendering from 2015 or so. The one I posted was the their updated plan in 2016.

The planning commission granted this project approval in April 2016. Then in August 2016 they went back to the planning commission for a revision. The plans are here:

http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/www/gro ... 185554.pdf

Last year they were granted an extension until August 2019.
