Actually if not Minneapolis, the state of Minnesota has had snowfall in every month of the year. Including July and August. SO when you consider most people associate everything that happens in a state to also happen in it's largest city, and the fact that some people in the US don't even know where MN is on a map... then yeah, that's a reasonable perception. When I went to ASU and I would go home during the summer, people would ask how cold it was when I came back to Phoenix... and they weren't joking around. That was sarcasm, right? There has NEVER been snow on the ground in Minneapolis in June. The weather this spring is about as bad as it gets! lol. This is true, but people who haven't visited Minneapolis think we have snow on the ground in June, which only happens occasionally. But for 6-7 months Minneapolis is actually a very nice place to live and to visit.

Again, sorry this is off topic...I did say Minneapolis, not MN...but actually it has never officially snowed anywhere in MN in July. It has in northern MN in June and August on rare occasions. Minneapolis has never seen snow in June, July, or August. Also, I was referring to the "snow on the ground in June only occasionally" comment, not the perception of out of state people. But yes...people do hear Minnesota and assume it is happening here...same as the -45 degree temps that we never see, but they do up north. Tis a big state.
Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)
I remember when the Soviet leader visited and there was snow just the day or two before hand and that was south of the twin cities. http://www.nytimes.com/1990/06/06/us/mi ... visit.htmlThat was sarcasm, right? Well, not here. I am not just pulling this out of my a**...Look at the stats. Big weather nerd here. lol. Never snowed at MSP in June in recorded history. Now I am just defending my weather knowledge! Weather exaggerations are a big pet peeve of mine.

Again, don't mean to be obnoxious and way off topic, but for some reason, wrong weather stats or perceptions make me irrationally angry! I am weird. Can't argue weather stats with me!
In any event, none of this matters...people will think what they think. Some cabbie in LA recently swore to me that he was in Minneapolis in May, and it snowed a foot(which has never even close to happened). People remember things that don't happen. Also, it especially has nothing to do with an unnecessary convention center hotel:) Sorry.

A little late now, but yes, it was sarcasm. Given this year's extended winter, it was intended as a bit of gallows humor. After the beautiful weekend, all is forgiven. That was sarcasm, right? There has NEVER been snow on the ground in Minneapolis in June. The weather this spring is about as bad as it gets! lol.

I'm loving the modern architecture. And are those trees? Or lamposts sprouting up?
Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)
That proposal will definitely not need any public subsidy
Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)
It actually seems to fit the context of the video alright, but it's pretty funny by itself.

So they are building it on a hill? Otherwise it's gonna be quite a climb to reach those red doors

It's from Mr Rogers neighborhood. It still looks as good as the Hilton
Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)
Finally - Stick People will have a nice place to stay when they are visiting Minneapolis.
Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)
Just wondering...Anyone know if this project is still germinating or is it deceased? It would seem logical to be building this just to stay competitive (play catch-up) with other cities that were in the original study and have a completion date close to the opening of the new Vikes' stadium (and forthcoming Super-Bowl-I think in 2018?). I see that the last post was back in May just after the Meet Minneapolis Study was published in late April, 2013.
