The development tracker has an article and some nice photos of this. The facade is nearly complete. I can't hide my excitement for this building, it looks fantastic. Henning Larsen was an inspired choice, there are few firms in the world that are so good at facades. I hope MSR also benefits from their collaboration.

My favorite photo of the bunch is the one from down the street, with the striking facade of the new building peeking out between the rough stone of City Hall and the staid modernism of the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility.

It looks SO GOOD. Very excited to have a Henning Larsen (and MSR) building in my own city :)

New city office building completed, but not fully brought to life with jersey barriers still surrounding.

Could those Jersey barriers be for the trial?

Im guessing so. I took a drive through downtown last week and all of the cities buildings are very well secured.

Is the skyway through this building open yet?

Can't speak to every direction, but the connection through Government Center is certainly not open, as the entire building is on lockdown during the Chauvin trial.

I walked through the public areas of this building, and it's really something extraordinary.

My phone camera did a poor job of capturing the overall feel of the atrium, it comes across as a bit darker than the reality. The space feels bright, open, and full of light. The integration between the ground floor and skyway levels is really well done.

There is good wayfinding that directs people to the new service center, which looks fantastic; a true one-stop-shop for municipal services, which is like the platonic ideal for every single mayor in America. While I was there, I saw two people talking through permits (ironically, this is digital for now) with city staff.

I think my only beef is the artwork that was chosen for the ceiling of the atrium area. It's a bunch of inter-connecting blue coils that respond to weather conditions, but for me they were too dark and hung low enough that they detracted just a little from the brightness and openness of the space. But that's a minor issue. The city seal on the wall is a showstopper, even if it's divided between two floors.

Looks neat, is the old skyway segment through the parking ramp still open? I always liked that part to cool off shortly before continuing through the piping hot skyways during winter when you overdressed.

It looks like that service center concourse should flow right into the old Thrivent cafeteria across the street.

This has won an award from AIA New York: https://www.aiany.org/architecture/feat ... -building/

More importantly for this forum's interests, the citation includes some glamour shots of the building. Photo credit is to Corey Gaffer.

That second one is a really wonderful photo, I love the contrast between the contemporary and the modern government buildings, with the postmodern skyscraper looming in the background.
