I vaguely paid attention during all that drama, so for all intents and purposes, what's the deal with that image? Was it an actual real concept image, or an elaborate fake rendering?

Anyone know what happened to the plans for this property? The latest news online dates to 2017, just like this thread, and suggests that it was going to be renovated but remain office use. Has anyone moved in or is the building currently just being used for its parking ramp?

There's a blurb on Hempel's website about converting it to apartments, but the brochure lists it as 300,000 sf of office space.

Century Plaza is a redevelopment of an office previously occupied by Hennepin County in downtown Minneapolis. The project will feature between 135 – 170 apartment units ranging in size from studios to three bedrooms. The project was constructed in 1932 and originally opened up to be home to the Miller Vocational High School. The large Art Deco building prepared thousands of Minneapolis high school and adult students for dozens of different careers. After it is repurposed, Century Plaza’s amenities will include a dog grooming area, fitness center, bicycle storage, and several rooftop amenities. Additionally, it will include a third party daycare.

The city is planning on moving the Minneapolis Police 1st Precinct to Century Plaza.

Hard to believe the 1st Precinct needs all of this space.

My guess is that they've given up on building a new 3rd Precinct that's actually in the third precinct for the time being, and that this building will also house them so they can get out of City of Lakes and let that redevelopment proceed.
