Is the project officially called 240 Hennepin, despite being replatted so that the address is 250 Hennepin?
On our books, the job is being called 250 Hennepin.

Multiple foundations and assorted demo debris being encountered in the subgrade excavation. Which is normal for this area. 100 years from now we should have it cleaned up, hopefully.

None of this is far from where Adam Banks lived in the Mighty Ducks too, at 450 North Hennepin Ave.

There was also a mid-century FDA building.

There was also a mid-century FDA building.
From which the flagpole that long stood on the corner of Washington and Hennepin was left over. It was a fairly nondescript box of a building.

On our books, the job is being called 250 Hennepin.
Now the job has been re-named ‘270 Hennepin’ and even changed job # internally. No explanation.

The last (we hope) of the hazardous material has been removed. (non-friable asbestos containing conduit)

I know very little about construction. So I figured this would be a good place to ask what was going on in the picture.

In particular, what’s going on in the area I circled in yellow?

The cut outs into the bedrock are areas that will be column support pads. Squares of concrete, anywhere from 3x3x1’, up to 10x10x3’.
The round cage is probably protecting a spot that was drilled even deeper than the pads around it. Most likely, it is where the drain sumps for the elevator pit are being installed. Those are usually 2’ in diameter, 6-12’ long, and are made of fiberglass. Green or blue in color, and that might be one between the cage and the skidsteer, partially covered by your line.

Thanks for the info! I’ve been checking this WebCam about 3 to 4 times a day. It’s fascinating to watch the progress.

They appear to be digging a long trench parallel to Hennepin Avenue, down on the job site. Is this trench going to be used for some type of pipes?

It must be, it’s too narrow for a footing trench.
Just guessing, but the worker looking at the prints on the left isn’t our employee, probably a plumber; because the trench is being dug out to a specific elevation. (white grade rod in end of trench next to orange excavator)
Probably the pipe run for the floor drains, I know the rock elevation there is 18-24” higher than what the engineers figured.

Very interesting. A couple hours after I posted the picture, they had covered over the trench with dirt. I didn’t see any pipes or tubes sitting on the ground, so I’m not sure that they actually put anything in.

Looks like they’re going to start pouring concrete this afternoon. Would this be them pouring the concrete for the foundations?

Are those squares and rectangles concrete? What exactly are there’s going to be used for?

A little hard to tell from the picture, but if I had to guess I'd say that's a stack of concrete formwork waiting to be deployed.
