Looking at the Vikings Stadium webcam view you can see it going in on Thursday, May 21st somewhere between 8:30-9:00 PM.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Different types of retail require different population sizes... the size of the trade area population for a convenience store is much less than for a full service grocery, for example.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
There's probably an obvious answer for this, but a post on another thread got me wondering: why DO retailers cover their windows so much? Is there a marketing reason? Or just so they can use the wall space more flexibly? I was stopped at the light outside the downtown Lunds last night and could see people at the deli inside and it totally made we want to stop in. I'd think seeing activity inside would be better for business but perhaps not?

Walgreens is planning on a September opening according to the 'now hiring' flyer.

I hadn't been through this section of the skyway in a while. It looks like they aren't going the Macy's route, and will be having the skyway passage outside the store, so they skyway hours aren't bound by the store hours. Big thumbs up, even though I do still hope that this is a 24-hour store, or at least open late and early enough that it doesn't matter.

Curious what will go on the back side of the skyway there. Retail or a restaurant? That would have to be one of the more heavily traveled skyways, so I'd expect it to fill and not just set empty.

Looks to me like retail. Along with the Walgreens coming soon wallpaper, there is also a sign for Orthology Physical Therapy up.

24 hours?
I was just thinking if it stayed open to 10PM weekdays and was open on Saturday and Sunday to about 6-8PM would be a massive accomplishment! Compared to existing Walgreens which nearly every time I walk past they are closed.

Uh the Eden Prairie one is 24/7, I think this one can be too. And the one next to knollwood.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
The one in my sleep neighborhood at 44th/Chicago is open 24 hours.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Yea, but this is downtown. I don't think I've seen anything there that is 24 hours. Sure would nice to see Walgreens (existing downtown location) moving from a 9-5 office worker hours of service to 24 hours (with the expanded new location). I still think they would close to deter a lot of that party crowd at night. Considering flash robberies are a thing too. If they do decide that 24 hour service for downtown is appropriate that would speak volumes on their confidence and commitment to downtown! I hope you are right.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Eh, something's gotta be first. You're right about the risks, but it's also potentially lucrative to be the only thing open at that time. Right now, the only 24-hour store I'm aware of in downtown is Bobby & Steve's, but that's barely downtown. In any case, even staying open til 11 or 12 would be miles better than closing at, what 7?

This is great! I got my first pair of Warby Parker's four, maybe five years ago. The online option blew me away, but it's even better to have them present locally.http://www.startribune.com/discount-eye ... 310839241/

Great! I've got a couple pairs of glasses from them and loved them. My only concern ordering online was if my glasses needed adjustment, I didn't know where to take them.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Huh, weird story: I saw a For Sale sign on the Music Box Theater a couple months ago (still there I believe) and thought that seemed odd, but it would appear that it was actually the daycare next door:

Recognized the edge of that mural in the photo. Looks like the state shut 'em down.
