Re: Track 29 Apartments
Not bad....not too bad at all. I can't expect much anymore in terms of architectural masterpieces but at least this one isn't a bland shapeless box with no character. Let's just hope the colors and tones make sense and don't stand out in a bad way (like its neighbor further down the road along Lyndale -- The Murals)!
Re: Track 29 Apartments
Excavation is actively underway, and based on the swath of earth they've started moving, it almost looks like they're going ahead with both phases of apartments at once. That's not a certainty, though it would be nice.
Re: Track 29 Apartments
I've notice that also, was going to as one of the construction workers, but all seened very busy. I think they maybe doing all the escavation at the same time to save on cost of removal and logistics. They sure can still do in 2 phases, just will have a lower level like it was before until the new 2nd phase kicks in. It could be that they want to get it all completed before they have to fight for market with the many other proposals that are out there.
Re: Track 29 Apartments
Any chance we could get a couple photos? Those of us who are out of town would really appreciate them.
Great to see that they're including a playground!

Re: Track 29 Apartments
photos wouldn't be exciting just yet. It just looks like they are moving some dirt around
Re: Track 29 Apartments
I live 2 blocks away, Right now it is just pile drivng and excavation for the parking levels. Will see if I can get some pics soon.
Re: Track 29 Apartments
They are still hauling out dirt , and driving piles at this point. Not yet sure if the Greenway building will be going up first and then the Bryant building. Will come online in 2 phases I believe.

A render of the project.

Re: Track 29 Apartments
Well, I know this design is not going to be hugely applauded by most here, but I absolutely love those overhangs on the Greenway building. That looks a LOT nicer than I was expecting. Regardless, it's nice to finally have a rendering of this one!

what's the big deal with overhangs? Clearly people like them else every other building wouldn't be featured with them, but I don't get the appeal, personally.

It makes the building look like its wearing a ball cap. Kids are wearing 'em nowadays.what's the big deal with overhangs? Clearly people like them else every other building wouldn't be featured with them, but I don't get the appeal, personally.

I think it's the Nelson-Tremain Partnership. They did the first round of Track 29 townhomes, plus the Sholom Home complex on West 7th in St. Paul.Does anyone know who the architect is?

It's called a cornice, and all buildings deserve them.
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
Re: Track 29 Apartments
I'm wary they are going to use alot of concrete board. You get that impression from the rendering, although I'm not completely sure. The corner of the complex is interesting with all its interlocking shapes and overhanging rooflines.

Walked by yesterday and they have some of the foundation forms up along Byrant Ave. Still not sure how they plan to work on this project as far as which is first to go up and when each will be open for tenents.

Re: Track 29 Apartments
Woo hoo -- look at that beauty! JK! I'm excited to see what the Uptown area will look like if/when the rest of these developments are complete. If memory serves, there were about 6-8 "mid-rise" projects proposed, with a total of 10-12 mid-rise buildings and a few thousand units in total.....all within a square half mile area -- pretty sweet!
The next one I'm excited to see get started (WAS the Lumber Exchange, but that's starting now) is the one at LynLake just North of Herkimers (*edit: 2900 Lyndale....the original version)
