There wasn't much to see at Open Streets. I asked one of the staff members about parking (i.e. if there is street parking available during non-event times, ensure that it is metered, not free)

Walked by the parklet today on my way to Herrmiker's. Seemed kind of out of place seeing that the patio to Lime rarely has anyone on it when I've been by. But what ever trip the trigger to see what can happen is fine with me.

Nothing entirely new here from the Strib today I don't think, but here it is anyhow...

The article makes it sound like people will be expected to walk on the sidewalk only. This is still being designed for peds to walk anywhere they want, right?

Eh, sorry. This looks like a normal street with "bump outs." I obviously haven't followed but this doesn't look like a place for pedestrians (despite the terrible graphic with the badly distorted Google Street View image of Lime.

Will this include a restoration of the lovely iron Greenway fence or is that the responsibility of the HCRRA?

Wished the designs on the pavement connected across the north/south streets. It would help the speed through over the bridge. Or else bump out into the N/S also.

Both were recommendations of the PAC. At the very least some serious paint should go into the intersection with a design that shows the whole of 29th is a continuous thing across Aldrich & Bryant. But yeah, the budget for this project is fairly limited.

I'll agree that it's not a true woonerf, but... so what? Not European enough to show off to the cool kids?

It provides greatly improved pedestrian amenities and landscaping, and makes it a space that can easily be converted for special events. It's certainly not a street design that encourages cars to speed.

What exactly is the guardrail for? Has their been issues with vehicles driving into the greenway?

There are guardrails at all the alley Ts with the greenway. So it must be out of safety, or because yes, someone went over the edge into the greenway.

I totally agree that we need to stop comparing ourselves to the Netherlands and Denmark. But, that also means that "we" (whoever we are) need to stop billing these projects as something that they aren't.

THANK YOU!! It is what it is, a tree lined street that is in need of repair, BIG TIME. There are new beautiful sidewalks that are next to those beautiful trees that I see people walking on every day! We don't need to be like the drunks and be walking down the middle of the street because it is COOL to do so!!!

I'm pretty disappointed this isn't a woonerf. If there's a place for experimenting with woonerfs and having people gain experience with them, this is it. It's a high-pedestrian area in a major commercial center with lots of residential around it and the current street is not in any way significant outside of the very immediate area. It would be a low-risk/high-reward experiment.

29th Street is not a high-pedestrian area. There's plenty of ROW for everybody here -- not sure what you're gaining by sticking a woonerf where it's not needed, besides, again, proving that we're cool enough to do it.
