I thought developers max out their parcels moreso to cover the fixed and variable overhead costs of the development, such as land and labor, respectfully.
LMAO!! Yes, it's bad, but at the same time I always thought the "Stuart Little" house was pretty cool smooshed between two large buildings kinda like that.

When these come up, I'm actually reminded of the 4-story tenement building from Batteries Not Included:

^For some reason, that immediately made me think of the house in that "Up" movie.

Actually, that IS the house that inspired the movie. Great article on it here: http://www.buzzfeed.com/jessicaprobus/t ... .eugVdd54z

The metal bridge beams are in place on the promenade, as well as one side of the support rails. Nice looking bridge. Will add some class to the greenway area. They still have to put a deck on the bridge yet though.

YES!! God I can't wait for this bit to be finished. It will greatly simplify my walks east.

Promenade bridge is open! Wow, that made a huge difference in getting in LynLake.

I am disappointed in the ginormous curb cut in front of Elan west. Seems like they could have used the alley instead.

I walked back around behind Elan west and was amused(?) to discover that the most interesting townhouse building faces the alley!

Is the walkway open in front of the third building (I'm honestly not sure what to call each of them now)? I took the 6 instead of the 4 the other day since it was warm enough to walk home and thought for sure they would be open... sadly, not.

No, not yet though the retaining wall is in place. Looks like everything is pretty close to being ready for concrete.

Walked by on Emerson last week and noticed that the stairway for the entrance to the northermost townhome is sloped significantly less than the stairways to the other townhomes. I'll have to re-check but I'm pretty sure the entrance is at the same height for all the townhomes.

Pretty embarrassing.

Not sure, the other day if they were pouring cement for the pool area or if they are starting to pour some of the sidewalk and the promenade, which is what fronts the greenway.

Went by again and noted that the entryway on the northernmost townhome is set back a bit from the two center townhomes, by perhaps a foot or two. Since the stairs on the three townhomes meet grade at the same point, the slope on the northern townhome has to be shallower.

The southernmost townhome has the same entrace setback as the northernmost one but its stairway is set back a bit more from the sidewalk than the others, maybe by 8 inches to a foot. So that stairway also has a shallower slope than the center townhomes but a *steeper* slope than the northernmost one.

Bad design AND terrible execution.

I haven't gone and taken a look yet, but this seems like some extreme nitpicking on design. If the stairs meet ADA requirements, does this really matter?

It may or may not matter to you and I/us, but it probably WILL matter to the residents who live there and expect things to be in order. Time will tell I guess...

Normally, no, but the north stair especially is *really* obvious. To me it shows careless design or shoddy construction, neither of which would sit well with me when paying luxury rents.

All the stairs are hideous. It's too busy, especially with the railing choice. A better design would have been two units sharing a stair, or maybe masonry walls instead of the rails. Hell, even a dog-leg rather than the straight run.

The funny thing as I noted above is that the townhomes facing the alley look better. They have shared stairs and a dog-leg (if I'm understanding your meaning correctly).

Does anyone on here live at this place (or know someone who does)? Any opinions on whether or not is a good place would be appreciated!

I have a friend who moved into the first building when it opened, top floor, downtown facing, 2 bedroom. Said he loves it. I am pretty sure he still works there. I also know his unit was quite expensive.
