Grant funding requested for 600 W lake st. It will be renovated and reopened as a restaurant space.
Urban Outfitters will close next month officially ending the chain retail phase of Henn/Lake.
I can no longer find the ground level retail space for the Rainbow Building(Chino Latino) for lease online so something might be in the works there.
Uptown Tavern will re open this week.

Ann Kim will be joining the Seven points redevelopment team
"But neighborhood residents and stakeholders were concerned about increases in traffic and activity, said Sam Ankin, manager principal and founder of Northpond.
In lieu of a major grocer, the Seven Points redevelopment team is now pursuing a neighborhood market that would occupy a much smaller space in the new building. They're partnering with local chef and restaurateur Ann Kim and her hospitality company, Vestalia Hospitality, on market programming and development, he said. Kim's Sooki & Mimi restaurant is located around the corner from Seven Points on West 31st Street."
Yes how dare two blocks that have had alot of issues over the past year dare have traffic and activity.
A very mixed bag on retail new for the area but I will say Lyn/lake seems to have mostly recovered to 2019 levels of activity with only a few spaces not leased.

With Wrecktangle open, Chicagos Very Own opening on the NW corner of Lyndale and lake, and this in the works, LynLake seems to be doing much much better than Henn/Lake area

Classic misdirection from the developer here. I'm sure the decision to pull the grocery store was entirely based on a couple of upset neighbors, and not the costs and complexity of trying to include a major grocery tenant.

Bulldozed lot next to the new Lago Apartments (On lake street just east of Lyndale and lake) appears to be getting paved over and turned into a parking lot. I believe it is owned by the same developer that built lake street dwelling and the lago, and a 7 story mixed use building had previously been approved for the site. Probably not a good sign for Lago Apartments leasing success so far. Also probably indicates a slowdown in apartment development for the Uptown/LynLake area in general.

I don't believe they can just make the area a parking lot and it is not on the Land Use Application portal as of today.
But it could be it is on pause
Here is the project in question. It was approved for grant money last year.

Any guess as to why they would be paving it over then?

They had stripped by this morning. Looks like we have a new parking lot on lake st which I assumed the city wouldnt have allowed for without approval

And even if they got approval, the code requires screening and landscaping. Someone should probably report it to the city.

Liquor Lyle's has new life. I have very mixed emotions about this. Very happy something is occupying the space. Sad about the rebranding.

The Freemont and Hammer and Sickle have closed. Both spaces are up for rent online.
I have also heard that H and M might be closing this week but unconfirmed.
Chino Latino is selling all of the items in there former space. Not sure if this means something new is moving into that space

In positive news the uptown art festival is this weekend and will hopefully bring a large number of people to the area weather permitting.

Centro has also opened on eat street.

While the space has been under construction for some time now here are the official plans for the uptown theater. It looks as thought the venue will take up the entire space(including the old John Fluevog space) as well as part of the building next door.

Some of the modifications they're proposing for the Uptown are pretty dubious. The new front doors are terrible.

I have no clue what could fill that H&M space, it’s massive. I guess another big retailer? But how do you lure them in?

Either chop up the space or create one of those Community Commons style spaces where smaller retailers share one larger retail area.

Literally anything but sit around waiting for another national tenant with a shopping mall portfolio. Seven Points got into this mess trying to compete with the suburbs, they're not going to get out of it by doing the same.

Seven points seems to have a better understanding of how to lease space then the previous owner as they have had a number of new small tenants come in. If they can start construction this year it will drastically help. Someone chopped up with north face space and it’s fully leased now after years of being empty .

That’s encouraging to hear. Hopefully the rest of the owners of Henn-Lake properties are paying attention.
