At a bare minimum, we're gonna need some bumpouts at Lake & Fremont. Since there aren't any bus stops or any limiting factors at any of the 4 corners of the intersection, there's really nothing stopping this from happening other than the money being programmed to do it.

A full traffic signal (+bumpouts) is probably the best way to go here. A push-button flashing beacon like at 31st & Girard would not be effective here, given the 3 lanes of traffic.

That block of Fremont should have one-sided parking and be two way to better facilitate movement in Uptown, especially since Lagoon tends to congest. The city could make the block between Lake and Lagoon on Emerson two-sided for parking if they want to preserve a similar number of on-street commercial district parking.

This morning Xcel was there to relocate the electrical substation and the pole that it is on. Also saw the big scoop shovel that they will knock down the building with. So this will be the week it looks like.

It's funny the size and scope of all the development in the Wedge, both along the greenway and the north side of Lake St, yet CARAG with the south side of Lake is the complete opposite. I do realize that there are some reasons for this but it's bordering ridiculous.

I just had this exchange on the Whittier Neighborhood site - the Carag pushback is really rediculous. Knee jerk against any development... Kept saying the she felt "bad for those people on that block"... And that it would block the sunshine for them in spite of the fact that the hotel is on the north side of that block... It is really NIMBY.

What's really amazing is that this nimbitude is manifesting itself in one of the most sprawled-out metropolises in the country. There are literally almost two hundred distinct suburban jurisdictions, of varying densities and distances from the core, that one could choose if one were really so easily disturbed by Noise and Traffic.

I want to knock down a city block and build a family farm on it. I want serenity and no neighbors, but I also want to be able to walk my kids to school and to pick up groceries (for food I don't grow).

Still standing today if you want to check it out. I drove by on my way to Vertical Endeavors for a birthday climb.

I see that the pile driver is on site now. I have not heard anything yet, but they are still doing some digging for the basement levels. I assume that if they don't get started this week, they will be driving piles next week.
