I'm glad to see the vintage brown brick apartment stays! It provides a good break between the two monoliths. It's owned by a separate developer, and one article says it won't be demolished. Perhaps it's protected? They certainly won't get as much sun as they're used to today.

Speak of sun, where are the solar panels on those giant flat roofs?

I think that small brick building is condos. Might have just been too much effort to buy out each owner.

Am I the only one who likes mansard roofs?

I feel bad for anyone who Ray now lives in that small apartment building. That’s going to absolutely suck during construction

I like them! I think they make the building look more refined and expensive.

types of roofs are like anything else, if they're authentic and done well they're great if they're cheap and inappropriate they look horrible.

On This project they look pretty decent, on any number of 70s modern apartment buildings... not so much.

this is an old render right? I thought mansard roof is gone in current design (render below), which is a bummer.

Drove by here on Monday and snapped a picture from the passenger seat through the fence. Looks like demolition has begun

Hate to be anyone who works the night shift living in that building. No sleep for you.

Pretty sad. I like the design of the new building, and I'm glad to see more intensity coming to the block overall, but it sucks to lose this beautiful landmark on the street. Age is similar to most of the buildings that were destroyed for the downtown era urban renewal (about 60 years old). Obviously some are more or less lovable or functional than others, but it starts to feel like that's just our attention span.

I love it. Yeah, I was walking by and knew that view will probably only last another month or so before they started putting up walls.
