There was a dumpster in front of the Falafel King space this morning and some work going on inside. I don't think I've seen anything officially announced for this site though?

As of today, no new building permits have been pulled in 2017, just an open permit from 9/2016 for "NON STRUCTURAL INTERIOR DEMO AT MAIN LEVEL FOR FUTURE REMODEL"

I only noticed it yesterday morning, when it looked like the brown paper had been pulled back. I thought it was official, but then I realized the old Falafel King food offerings were still on the glass as well, so I figure it's a (nice) graffiti. Maybe I'm wrong.

Put in the address here: http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/AddressPortalApp/
Then look at inspection permits. You may have to poke at the Hennepin County interactive property map to find the official legal property address: https://gis.hennepin.us/property/map/

That's for Minneapolis at least, I know Ramsey county has something similar to look up addresses, but I don't know if St Paul has a property info site like that.

St. Paul, it's more permit specific: https://online.stpaul.gov/web/portal/pu ... reset=true

About a week maybe, though I only really noticed once the paper was taken off the windows. It looked like they were drawn on the inside of the window and there was a website written on one of the windows (can't remember the name, but it was some kind of art/signage/marketing company) in the same color ink as the drawings so I don't think it's graffiti.

This isn't necessarily "Uptown Restaurant News," but for lack of a better thread City Pages reports that Hola Arepa could open a second location (although they conveniently don't list an address, except for University Avenue somewhere north of the river).

It's apparently going to be located at the old 22nd Street Station (Double Deuce). Source: some article I saw somewhere.

Half serious post right here, but I gotta say, part of me gets frustrated with all these South Mpls restaurants opening up in other parts of the city...

Lu's
Glam Doll
Bad Waitress
Revival
Hola Arepa
Pizzeria Lola (kinda)

Makes me feel less special! When are we gonna get an Anchor, or Brasa, or a Leslie Bock restaurant down here??

It's only a matter of time before World Street Kitchen opens a second location too, right?

Does anyone else find it odd that Lu's, Glam Doll, and the Bad Waitress are within a block of each other on Nicollet, and now within a very short timeframe, each of their second iterations are within a block of each other on Central?

Eat Street Social is another that comes to mind.
