Seems kind of strange to buy out an operating restaurant when the former Scena space right next door is wide open...
The current Coup d'Etat owners are part owners in the company running Pourhouse. I'm guessing they don't own the old Scena spot, which is why they opted to close Coup and transform it into (a likely higher profitable) Pourhouse.

That makes a lot more sense. Thanks!

Coup d'Etat was my preferred pre-movie beverage stop (particularly when their happy hour went until 7). I had some really nice chats with some of their happy hour regulars. Hopefully that bunch finds a new home nearby. Lake & Irving, maybe?

FYI, the BBQ place going in on Lyndale/Lake is called Hasty Tasty and has hiring signs in the window.

Looks like Lucia's will be closing this month. First my preferred pre-movie beverage stop and now my preferred post-movie dinner stop.

I wonder if the Country Bar/Blue Door will remain a full booze late night bar? Seems like a waste of a liquor license otherwise.

I'm not sure "waste of a liquor license" has any meaning anymore -- my understanding is that, unlike most other cities in the state, Minneapolis has the power to issue as many as they want as long as they meet the requirements.

Does anybody have a list of the mythical grandfathered liquor licenses? Or, with the loosening of the liquor laws, is that no longer even a thing?

I didn't mean it as precisely as if it was counting against a fixed number, just that this is a location where full booze seems like a real plus (if I was opening a restaurant here that was anything more formal than counter service, I'd sure want full liquor). The blue door locations to date of course don't do that, so I'd be curious to know if they are gonna keep a full bar or stick more to their core business.

This makes me so happy. Still need one somewhere between Lake Street and freaking Burnsville, but this is a start.

I'm preeettty sure it's fake. The paper is outside the window.

Crossing my fingers, though. Big if true.

"Unconfirmed reports"

If it is fake, which it probably is since there's no permits, then everyone in town is going to hate whoever did it.

Apparently the Tinto space is becoming a Taco John's as well. Weird!

Nah that one says Taco Ron's. Big old difference. Anyways, this is pretty fake so carry on. I blame Cory Zurowski.

Pending Taco War. What's next, Figlio space becomes Taco Don's?!?

I actually got a chuckle from it, but my next thought is who actually has the time to think that idea is funny enough to warrant spending time designing, printing, and posting the flyers? Someone needs a hobby.

...or maybe it's some way to subtle political dig on development in the area? Shrug.

*tinfoil hat time*

What if someone wanted to see what the public would think about putting a Taco Johns there, so they did some guerrilla market research by printing off some easy to make flyers, sticking them on a vacant building, and waiting to see the response?
