Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
Does anyone know what is going in on the corner of Marshall and Snelling?
Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
Starbucks
Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
Is that all? Seems like a big construction site. There's also an existing urban Starbucks at Snelling-Selby a few blocks away; are they moving so they can install a drive-thru?

This proposal has been around forever. The Minnesota China Friendship Garden Society also has tentative plans to build a second garden at Washburn-Fair Oaks Park, across from the Minneapolis Institute of Art. That Chinese garden would honor the sister-city relationship between Minneapolis and Harbin, China.

(Since I can't start a new topic)
Old Saint Paul fire Department Station No. 3
Rumor has it in the W7th neighborhood that demolition permits have been applied for to raze the old SPFD Station 3 at 1 Leech Street. The station on the corner of Grand & Leech just behind the Grand 7 Saloon, has stood since 1872. It is the oldest municipal building in the city of St. Paul. Current ownership of the building and six adjacent lots is BK 200 Grand LLC. Rumor has it it's to make way for a Marriott Brand hotel.

Saved, but at a cost of a 500k forgivable loan from the Saint Paul HRA (essentially paying for parking, on a transit line, walking distance to downtown :/ )

40k-80k of office space. The lot is 34k sq/ft. So with a more-than-likely surface parking lot, we're probably looking at a 2-4 story building?

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
Oh, that's in the Capital Area zoning district.
G-1
Capitol view area
Minimum height of 3 stories on Univ, 30'-40' setback.
Along Marion, 2 story min, 0-5' setback
Surface parking setback 30' from lot lines.
max height 944' above sea level, so 4-6 stories max.

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
I don't know much about zoning codes. I hope the project developer attempts to get a variance to reduce the setback from University Avenue. The last thing we need is a parking lot facing University.

Anyone know what's going on at 271 W. 7th St. (one block west of the Downtowner Woodfire Grill)? It looks like any previous businesses have vacated and there's remodeling work going on inside all three storefronts.
Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
Perhaps 271 W. 7th is just a speculative remodel like the former Fort Road Florists across the street (which has been sitting empty for a while now).

'The Glensman' a *cough* 'Northern' Irish bar. Formally slated for Grand Ave by Mac, but their building was condemned and demolished.

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
Still miss being able to go to the Glockenspiel to get a nice selection of German beers. Or how about a British pub with a wide selection of British beers (like Brit's used to have years ago). Oh well, maybe there's not a market for those kind of bars anymore...
