Probably could use its own thread for everything at this intersection...

Realignment of Lexington and senior housing. We talked about this somewhere already. Will be interesting to see if this is the first of many along W 7th.

Does anyone know if St. Paul has plans in the near future to re-do Pelham Avenue from Franklin to the river? The industrial area north of 94 is pretty bad, but it's almost worse in the residential area to the south.

Potential Snow Kreilich rehab/expansion of mid-century building on Raymond into 11 condos. Typical NIMBY comments.

Totally new, non sequitur topic on this thread, to my knowledge: I'd love to see a new development fronting University Avenue between Lasalle Street and Hampden Avenue. I imagine it's only a matter of time: some of the buildings already appear to be for sale, and the site is very close to the Raymond Green Line stop. Does anyone know anything about this real estate?

St. Kate’s to shift Minneapolis programs to St. Paul, ditching its Minneapolis properties.

https://finance-commerce.com/2018/07/st ... o-st-paul/

So interesting. I mean I bet the Minneapolis property will fetch a nice sum, so that makes sense. But I’d gotten the idea that the St. Paul campuses are penned in by loud home owners upset they didn’t know what buying a house next to a thriving college meant so they demand a say in making the colleges less thriving.

The last vestiges of the original St. Mary's Nursing School / St. Mary's Junior College.

I guess we'd have to assume that Fairview is going to be the buyer, right?

Off topic, it's astonishing what a cobbled together mess that Riverside campus is.

Minneapolis-based Kraus-Anderson Development wants to tear down this vacant office building at 590 Park St. in St. Paul to build 92 apartments. The company will also renovate the adjacent parking garage.
92 micro apartments coming near the state capitol. I would rather see this building renovated and repurposed; anything built today, especially in this neighborhood, will be cheaper construction. Here you have a solid concrete building, brick facade, probably a 100 year asset that will be replaced by stick construction, fiber cement siding, probably a 50 year asset max. Wish the numbers worked on a reno.

Why isn't there more interest in development in this part of town? Seems ripe for development all around. When I bike through here, I'm always surprised how derelict the city is within such a short distance of the Capitol.

CAAPB is working on a reinvestment plan for the area right now, but the current state of Rice is a big barrier. The sidewalks are unbelievably narrow.

On August 14th, the Capitol River Council included an informational item about another expansion to Regions Hospital, this time for a birth center. Phase 1 - 4 floors, Phase 2 - an additional 7 floor on top.

Looks like a nice addition. The legislature had to sign off on this expansion this past session. So I would think this should happen pretty quickly.

All current buildings are staying put. Hotel tower will front alongside Jackson, and the 3-story attached ramp will sit between the animal hospital on the south and the converted warehouse on the northeast of the site.

Visible work started today. Building is currently being gutted, with the east set of doors wide open to 7th Street.
