There is a sign on the old Izzy's window that says ice cream is coming soon. So there's that.

Neighborhood pages are overwhelmingly disappointed- appears that no one likes Nelson's. Just happy to have the storefront filled again.

To have it filled in times like this is a win.

The Liffey has broken ground -- I never heard any update(s) but it had previously run into some zoning/setback issues. Very happy this is moving along again! Located at Snelling & Carroll.

From the project site:
Gaughan plans for new multi-family development in downtown St. Paul to add to the revival of the Snelling Corridor.
How far into the exurbs is Gaughan based that they think downtown St Paul includes Snelling?

Edit: Ah, they're in Forest Lake. Checks out.

The terminology my in-laws & parents use (from well outside the metro area):

"Minneapolis" = Twin Cities metro area
"Downtown" = anything within Minneapolis / St Paul city limits

Took a photo of the development at the NW corner of Marshall & Finn last night. Pleased to see this corridor adding a fair number of units.

I drive by here almost every day and have been watching this one go up. What do we know about it? Their website makes all sorts of absurd claims - "just a block from the UST campus", "on a BRT line", "all the fun that Saint Paul has to offer" among others. Looks like it meant to be student housing, which is currently pretty tight.

It's student orientated, yes. I would not say it's a 'fun' neighborhood, but we do like it here. All big 4bdrm units, which I think they are leasing by the room, not unit. Overall it's a good looking project that fits the site nicely.

These are all under 50 units! That should get some recognition as being pretty neat. This is the small-site incremental growth we should legalize everywhere.

Edit: to be fair, 2097-2115 Marshall Ave does look ugly.
