Maryland Ave and Rice Street

Postby mulad » September 20th, 2013, 4:53 am

Buildings along 1188-1200 Rice Street (SE corner of intersection) are being torn down. The 1200 lot had been a gas station for many years, though I think the pumps were turned off within the last year or so. It seems like they tried running as a corner market for a while, but the buildings went vacant a few months ago. Not sure if there are any plans for anything new.

Do we know what is going in here? There are barriers and fences up around the lot.

It looks like they may be trying to build something -- there appeared to be a foundation for a small structure going in at the south end of the site when my bus went past this morning.

Definitely a foundation going in, but it's an "L" shape oriented in the "wrong" direction along the inside edges of the lot. Probably a gas station/convenience store (which is what it had been).
