Looks like a local coalition is going to renovate the 1915-era Victoria Theater on University Avenue between Victoria and Avon.

Awesome!

Fun tidbit from the article: the theatre was designed by Franklin Ellerbe, the founder of Ellerbe Becket. This firm has designed a lot of notable buildings around here, including Target Plaza, the US Bancorp Tower, and LaSalle Plaza, to name a few. Glad to see it's (at the very least) been protected from becoming a parking lot!

I just received my new Monitor local news paper and there a bunch of University Ave development updates. The info isn't online yet but here's what it had to say about this project:

-Over the next 18 months, fundraising as well as planning for the theater will be underway.

So, I think this one will take a while until we see it open. Still good to see it saved!
