I guess there's not any money for redoing the exterior of the building. Too bad, because it really is crappy.

Good point. I'm assuming there are strict exterior facade requirements considering the new buildings that have gone up in the area as of late (Walgreens, Schuler, Pieology). Would have been nice to see.

Really? I'd say the only buildings of any real interest is the highland theater and patina. Schuler turned out to be a real stinker with 1970s tinted windows and the worst faux stone. The target is one of the more attractive of the lot.

I'm not saying that the Walgreens and Pieology buildings are particularly good...just that the Target Express proposal simply puts new signage on an uninspiring, early 2000s EIFS strip mall. I was hoping for something more.

The signage looks terrible, they couldn't have had a red "target express" lettering as opposed to a red rectangle?

Agreed. As someone who reviews sign permits (among other things) for a living, that is pretty tacky/cheap, especially for Target. Is that big red box covering something up? Because individual channel letters would've been the norm here.

Well they laid off the person who was good at sign design because they were too pricey to the company

HA! Yeah you're right, they probably laid the sign people off

But they're not covering anything up with it, I saw it when the Barnes and Noble sign came down and there was no mark from the old sign. They painted right over it!

Sorry the pics that I was looking at, the date was very dark and I did not search out to find the opening date.

This signage was temporary. Target announced that they are doing away with the CityTarget and Target Express branding. Everything is just Target. Regardless of size. Although, it also said they are still deciding what to do with Super Targets.
