Regional Labor Headquarters - 384 Smith Ave N

Postby mulad » August 18th, 2015, 7:18 am

There's a foundation being built for something on the old footprint of Forbes Ave in the vee between West 7th St and Smith Ave. Does anyone recall what that is? It's close to the Salvation Army, but there's also an auto repair shop nearby.

Fairly certain that's the new Labor Headquarters, replacing the building just torn down at 411 Main for the Higher Ground project.

A hazy phonecam shot from the West 7th side. It''s two stories at this point:

The exterior is mostly done on this building. They built a parking lot on the north side, which extends across an alley to include a small triangle of land adjacent to West 7th.

Even though the address is on Smith Avenue (unless this has changed), the building's architectural front faces West 7th, with some flagpoles out front. Also note the black fencing, which is used throughout the site:

Angled shot of the building from a bit further down 7th:

The back end of the building on Smith:

The parking lot on the south side of the building is for the Salvation Army building across the street:

The front of the building is actually on an alley, with the flagpoles on the other side:

The building's own parking lot is on its north side, and there are a couple of extra doors there for quick access (one is just on the near side of the lift, the other is visible just to the right of the portajohn):
