2383 University Ave- 6 Stories, 220 units

Postby seanrichardryan » May 19th, 2020, 8:33 pm

US Bank at Raymond & University is closing and being sold for redevelopment along with the adjacent parcel to the east. Rumor is 'student housing' whatever that means. Big piece of land with the parking lots. Hopefully something with a good street front in this very walkable district. Image
Kraus Anderson proposes 6-story with 220 apartments and 2200 s/ft retail.

SOS Furniture is moving to Vadnais Heights this summer.

Looks like Exeter has bought it and has plans

The project on the south side of University Ave at Hampden Ave has finished up. I think it looks really good. Nice big windows, simple and elegant detailing.

Looked into moving in there. I really don't see the appeal of living in the area until industry is more phased out. Definitely a big detriment on health and air quality there.

The paper mill is pretty stinky on warm summer evenings.

There’s kind of surprisingly a lot right around there but no real synergy as a district since it’s mostly specialty stores and in a bit of a dead zone for residential between the Raymond and Westgate stations.

The structure of the bank is mostly down and it looks like they're starting to work on the foundation.
I set up this little construction cam https://twitter.com/UCambot to track the progress.
If anyone has suggestions for somewhere other than twitter to post this lmk.

So there's a big hole in the ground at 2408 Territorial Road, on the south side of Territorial just east of the Roundtable Coffee Works (where Podiumwear Custom Sports Apparel used to be). I think I saw a Frana Companies sign on the fence around it. Anyone know what's happening here? I found nothing on Frana's website.

"The Mason," featuring the absolute bare minimum amount of masonry that they could get away with.

They've started digging the hole for this one. Kind of quietly, a lot of buildings are going up around here.

I noticed that Phillips Distilling moved into the Platform Flats building. Hopefully they open a tasting room :)

The new building on the U.S. Bank space has the brick exterior finished (or mostly finished), and date I say the intersection of Raymond-University actually feels like you're in a city. A few more parking lots to go to the southeast, but this is one area that's really changed since the light rail came in.
