... I'm looking forward to this development because it will bring more food options to within walking distance.

Don't even need a towering ramp. Look at Centennial Lakes, just layering one level saves you amazing amounts of space you could put to tax paying productivity.

Or do it like Container Store where the parking is up on top of the building.

I made it still Eagan fitting with surface lots. But added more mixed use and pedestrian friendly corridors. You see a light blue line hugging the buildings, that's a wide sidewalk/promenade featuring plantings, benches and art pieces. The red boxes are mixed use properties that could be office or living on the upper floors and preferably retail on the first. Those would be 3-5 stories. The yellow boxes are all retail. I left some spaces in between them so that there could be an opportunity for outdoor seating for a restaurant or just a shortcut for walkers. The large orange box is the grocery. There would be 6 entrances for cars plus 2 roundabouts.

I work for Delta (the office building directly adjacent to eagan central park), and walk across the park and around the lockheed martin site to get to the strip mall across Yankee doodle where there's a few places to eat. El loro is pretty good. Granite city is just across pilot knob. Brueggers is across both, so a bit more of a pain to get there, and the intersection is really busy and wide. If I want to go somewhere across the interstate, I just drive. (not that it would be too far to walk, I just don't have enough time to walk that far over lunch)

What does Delta still have in Eagan? I thought they sold this facility, and the old Northwest headquarters up by 494/Dodd. And consolidated MSP oprations into the old Republic HQ at 34th Ave and 494.

Most of delta's IT department is still in Eagan at 1500 Towerview road. The building itself was sold and then leased back. And theres no rumors of IT being moved down to ATL, at least not that anyone that I work with has heard.

Hate to say but this reminds me of the Southtown Cluster F**k, where you can park close to the door and then have to walk a 1/4 mile to get to another store that is at the other end or across the parking lot or get back in your car and drive there.

Yikes, way to much parking spaces I agree. Plus the design looks awful. Ugly store backsides facing busy roads and a more center focused parking lot with an island of smaller retail. Somebody's idea of a joke? Still trees in parking lots can be outstanding once they are allowed to reach maturity. Yet the trees they do select seem to take forever to grow.

Hy-vee just signed a lease for a grocery store at this site.

Also, looks like they're now calling the project "Central Park Commons". Can we get a mod to update the thread title?

With a ByerLund's and a Cub already in the area, plus the limited selection of groceries that Walmart has, that's a lot of grocery stores for that part of town. I'd guess that Cub would feel the most impact from it.

Mods, can we leave a reference to the Lockheed Martin site in the title? Because I'm never going to remember what this BS name actually refers to.

Developments with "Central Park" in the name that aren't near Central Park on Manhattan... Or even a Central Park anywhere... are just wrong. Don't do this.

Being on a "Central Parkway" doesn't help. Call it Central Parkway Commons then. :/

Well, for what it's worth, there is a "Central Park" across the street. They certainly could have been more creative though. But I think that ship has sailed.

Many more tenants have been announced for this development:

Some interesting additions here -- R Taco, Naf Naf Grill, Piada, and one of the first Five Below stores in the state, along with more standard stores.
