Travail will be building a new restaurant at 41st & West Broadway in Robbinsdale. Construction to begin Spring 2013.

Travail currently sits at 4154 West Broadway in Robbinsdale, but it will soon relocate just down the street next to Walgreens.

Robbinsdale's Economic Development Authority voted this week to give Travail's owners a $300,000 loan to help them tear down a vacant building and clear the site. The new site will allow Travail to have a bigger space.

"They will build a new building that's worth at least $740,000," said Robbinsdale City Council Member Bill Blonigan. "And the extra taxes that they pay over a 25–year period will be used to pay us back with interest, and everybody comes out in a win–win situation."

Robbinsdale officials expect construction to begin next spring, with the new Travail location opening Aug. 1, 2013.

They removed a rather nice looking building. They'd better make up for it with something spectaular.

I'd like to put on my Strong Towns hat and ask what the property they tore down was worth. And if I put on my urbanist hat I wonder if this new building will front the street as well as the old one.

Hy-Vee is moving in to the region in small steps but looks like New Hope has gathered some parcels together to redevelop a space where Hy-Vee will play a part.

Rather than a few sparse threads I felt a single thread for these two intertwined cities would work.

uh, not really. Good try though.

Anyway, I'm surprised that New Hope would be the first pick for a location in the metro.

Surprised this hasn't come up here yet. A developer wants to demolish the Terrace Theater and adjacent vacant Rainbow building to build a new grocery store.

Tearing down the Terrace would be an absolute travesty. For those unfamiliar with the building: http://www.historicterracetheatre.com/
