A tower crane is going up today for the expansion.

I read "Zip Line" and immediately got my hopes up for news of the Rochester HSR project. This is cool too, I guess.

Still wish they'd build a decent waterpark like at Edmonton, looks like the new one will be pretty small. They claim the new one will be the largest in Minnesota without giving square footage, but Waterpark of America is only 15th biggest in North America now so that's not saying much (WOA is 70,000 square feet and Edmonton is 217,000.

They should put a lazy river through the mall. They already got ziplines.

I noticed the base for the hotel tower crane was up today and it looked like some of the other parts were in the staging area. Maybe I just had a poor perspective, but the tower crane for the office portion did not look very tall, barely taller than the mall itself. They didn't shrink that portion did they? There was no jack in place to lift the crane so it makes me think this is as tall as it will go.

The variance they had to get from MSP was for going up taller than 1,100 ft. above sea level (or taller than the 10 stories of the office).

The crane didn't seem high enough for 10 stories though, maybe 4 or 5.

I know they can, but in my original post I had written that they didn't have the jack in place for that.

I was out there last monday and noticed a lot of the brass from the West Market had been removed. Looks like they're starting an $11 million renovation and bringing it in line with the newer renovated sections.

Has the mall replaced the majority of Bloomingdales yet? As far as I know they added a huge Forever 21 but were waiting to announce new tenants for like three floors or corner space so they could announce it all together. That was like two years ago now, though.

They put in an exhibit center on the 3rd floor. I went there yesterday to check out their Star Trek exhibit (mostly underwhelming for me), but had to walk past a lot of pink stuff for their "Barbie Dreamhouse Experience". They also have a "CSI:" exhibit.

The attention paid to the State of Minnesota's $350 million expenditure at the other end of the Blue Line seems to be overshadowing their $250 million expenditure here:

I feel as though this project has fallen a bit under the radar with all of the other projects going on in downtown Minneapolis. Any idea what the progress is on this? I never make it down to Bloomington to see progress, but I hear they want it done by Fall 2015.

I was in the area recently. The new Lindau "Tunnel" opened last week. It looked like a fair amount of concrete had been poured for the MOA project as well.

400 bar opening delayed indefinitely. Concerts are scheduled for a gallery space. If you thought it was bad enough opening a giant venue at the Mall of America under the banner of a defunct West Bank institution... http://www.vita.mn/crawl/268191972.html
