Is Micro Center sorta one-of-a-kind, semi-regional destination retail? If so, they can probably relocate to one of many class-C strip mall properties in basically any first ring suburb that's not SLP or Edina. They should not have too hard a time finding a spot, without looking further out than Roseville or Crystal/New Hope or wherever.

I was at Microcenter midday during the week a couple months ago and it was packed. Hopefully they’d be able to find another spot or move into a new space in a redevelopment.

Just a twenty-five minute, fully protected bike ride from downtown. Good amount of bike parking in this one, it matches the amount of car parking.

But you're burying the lede. Right before this submission is the real headline: an ordinance to allow dogs on patios.

Yeah, I saw that too. And you are right. Did not mention it :)

According to a post on Nextdoor, the Galaxy Drive-in will be open for business this summer after being closed for way too long. It was hard to tell if Schussler has sold it or if he just has a different hospitality team running it.

The StarTribune had a story on the reopening too.

Looking at a few other random locations, the existing St. Louis Park seems to fit Micro Center's business model of locating in a dumpy strip mall with plenty of surface parking reasonably close to wealthy areas. There's plenty of other dumpy strip malls around for them to relocate too, but I don't see them as part of a new development with higher rents and probably ramp parking, which would be a big turn-off to a large part of their customer base (see also West-End).

Micro Center could relocate to just about anywhere and be fine. They're a destination retailer and customers will go to wherever they are (within reason).

Is the Galaxy Drive-in on hold, due to COVID-19?

If Micro Center moved, would they choose a smaller space? Large space, low rent, plenty of parking… seems like a dying breed in well to do first ring suburbs.

Near west end, but on the east side of 100, 6-story apartment approved. 79 units near North Cedar Lake Trail.

I guess I don't understand push back on this. Is this replacing the old white office building across from the dealership? I don't see how this would adversely affect the neighborhood.

That’s exactly what it’s replacing, plus the home behind it.

There's nothing to understand, it's reflexive.

Looks like this is a proposal to replace the old micro-strip at Texas and TH 7 that has Papa Murphy’s and Knollwood Liquor Store.

https://finance-commerce.com/2020/05/br ... ouis-park/

I think this is the second new banks in the vicinity of Knollwood in the past year. I’m trying to figure out what that’s about.

That’s my liquor store! Jerks.
Well, I probably have a year...

I wonder if Papa Murphy's could move to the empty Smashburger space a block over at Knollwood Mall? I have a hard time believing that they couldn't make it work somewhere nearby. The place is always busy.
I think the liquor store might have a tougher time finding a place to maintain the same amount of traffic.

I've driven out to this Papa Murphy's when I lived in Uptown...I have to imagine they'll reopen. If they don't, there's a huge opportunity for an aspiring franchisee to open a location literally anywhere in uptown/southwest Mpls or SLP (and that's potentially worth 2 locations). The closest locations to south Mpls are East Lake @ West River Pkwy, Southdale Square (66th & York), and Cedar Point Commons (Cedar & 66th in Richfield). I'd honestly be kind of interested in doing it, except running a Papa Murphy's sounds incredibly boring. Super easy and simple as far as franchise restaurants go, but really, truly boring.

I’d love to see them re-open in the Walker and Lake district.
