Will developers please stop blowing my mind with these out-of-the-box 5-6 story architectural mini-miracles? It's too good, take it back!

According to yesterday's F&C, this is slated for City Council approval on 3/5. They referred to it as "Arcata".

Later today you should be able to see their application packet by looking for our March 3rd meeting agenda under 2013 Meetings at the following link:

Aparently they are counting the underground parking structure as a level because they mention that it is a 6 story structure, but I count 5 floors.

Significant grade changes happening over there so the "first" floor is likely to be partially submerged in places, partially revealed, fully revealed, etc...it is nice to have a sloping site sometimes...

Nope. That Xenia proposal is brand new (and massive...holy crap!)

"The Xenia" is the NW corner of Xenia / Golden Hills. Arcata is the SE corner, next to The Colonnade office building.

This looks almost topped out. I think they are working on the top floor stick construction.

You better enjoy this pic, because I risked my life coming up Louisiana Ave from SLP on my bike for this.

How many people who live here do you think drive to the west end every night? Shudder.

A nice project though I like the building.

^I mean it's a whole half mile. That's so far to walk. ;)

Nice looking building, but I am always a bit shocked at what people will pay for suburban apartments. The prices are these are pretty much in line with what you can find in the North Loop. I suppose West End access makes it a more attractive option that many other suburban places, but still...

Rationally though, it IS pretty difficult to walk a half mile in the cold and snow hauling groceries or shopping bags home. But at least their driving is minimized by living so close to where they shop, play, work and live. I know I'd do it much of the time, especially with the kids in tow.
